    Hello,

I'm using my MorphOS almost for two months, it gets better every day but still, I have a few issues that are more to OS than apps, but I placed it here.

    1. Clock. How to change the clock efficiently??? I'm in GMT+! and it shows GMT, changes don't affect anything.

    2. PolyNet NG. It always starts in the middle of my screen, setting bottom-left and saving prefs don't affect it

    3. OS volume control doesn't affect anything

    4. When I list OSX filesystem, there's a 30 files limit (a bug?) I guess this is gonna be adressed in 2.5 (file dialog doesn't have that fault for a change)

    5. To which extent am I allowed to freele upgrade my MorphOS? I bought 2.4 key.

    6. Maybe off topic mostly but does any of you know any Cubic IDE plugins for Python? Are there any?

    7. How to enable some native startup sound? My MorphOS starts quietly.

    Thanx for any hints.

Mini has no hardware volume control. AHI driver should implement software one, but it is not yet done.

    5. To which extent am I allowed to freele upgrade my MorphOS? I bought 2.4 key.

AFAIK at least all 2.x releases will be free for you.

So you mean that the volume control in MorphOS on the menu bar is kind of useless so far?

    2. I was trying couple of times with all saving options available in PolyNet NG and got it done so it is possible.

    4. This is a bug and as far as i know it's known to MorphOS Team

    3. The volume sbar is indeed a bit useless on mac mini at the moment. But it's still very useful on the other machines having hardware mixers. :)

    7. You can at least do it with ambient, by editing sys:prefs/ambient/advanced.conf and add sfx_boot = <path to your sound file>. Datatypes, Reggae datatypes and MP3 should be supported

    2. When you put pointer anywhere on the Polynet bar and click right mouse, select"Edit Bar Settings".
The 'Bar Main' window that willl appear contains a "Drag bar settings" feature (bottom left).
Activate "Show at" and a coloured frame will appear in the selected position (that you can choose with the selector near the 'Show at' function).
With that frame (that could be a logo anyway..) move your bar wher you want and after you selected your favourite position, see up there: there is a "Fix" button. Press it, then press "Save all prefs" and Polynet should store the position.
You can keep activated the drag bar frames so you can move the bar anytime, or deselect it and the bar will be not draggable.
You can even download the new version of Polynet, with thew new trasparency feature =)

Here it goes well, with correct trnsparence. Try to deselect "custom background" and try to switch on transparent bar" again.
Though it should work the same..... :-?

MorphOS time is off by one hour compared to OSX time, AFAIR.

You can easily adapt when you copy the file sys:MorphOS/s/network-startup file to sys:s and add the following line at the end:

    run DETACH MOSSYS:c/Setclockntp

Now your time will be set automagically on each reboot. This of course only works if your system is connected to the internet. Make sure you setup your location in locale/timezone corrctly as it effects summer time handling.

8 Sometimes when I put a CD in the disk dosn't come up on the desktop, but instead I have to mymorphOS: to see them.

9:Music CD, Data CD, and memory Key pen thingies all come up with Hard drive Icon, can't we have CD images/stick images or something? OS3.9 had them...

10: Sometime (not always) when I drag an icon to the desktop to create a shortcut it seems to autosort next to my system: drive icon, not stay in the place I drag it too, which means I have to then move it to where I want it before snapshooting it.

    9. You can have anything you want for each device. Ambient will attempt to use sys:prefs/presets/deficons/def_<devicename>disk.info

So for instance, def_cd0disk.info def_usbscsi0disk.info def_smbfs0disk.info and so on.
Additionally, it means you can actually snapshot the mode, window position and size of the icon-less devices.
Note that you can also use a 'x' wildcard to match several devices that way: def_usbscsixdisk.info. When using a wildcard, snapshot won't work, though.

yah! Copy the info.disk from the MorphOS install disk to sys:prefs/presets/deficons/def_cd0disk.info has worked!

May I suggest this is installed as default for 2.5?

Wow, it became a nice Tips&Tricks thread!

    I got another issue minor.

    11. When I browse Amiga Future CD for example, I cannot get back to the previous folder I was just browsing (the up dir), if I want to get back, the only way out is to start over from MyMorphOS (the root) and go down the hierarchy again. I suppose the issue concerns other CD types also, I only have a couple of AF issues to put into MorphOS. Why's that?

Do you really think is it awesome?
Think you paid an important sum of money
,a 150? licence key, which becomes null if your
machine burns out or wrecks? If I'm not wrong BTW.
That's the reason why I don't register ATM.
Instead bought OS4.1, it comes on CD and can be installed
on another Pegasos if mine breaks down.
All in all, I prefer MorphOS but disagree with
    the license scheme.

If you can provide reasonable evidence that your peg is broken, there's no problem with regenerating a key for a new machine.

    There comes number twelve.

When I start OWB, I can connect to www successfully only after some 30-40 seconds from the launch. Hint: I'm using wifi appliance, see my signature. And the issue is, does it have to be like that?

DiskDoctor: I suppose I'm using the same or the similar wifi access point and i can connect to the internet after about 10 seconds when my MorphOS appears on the screen. I think that has nothing to do with OWB, it is the time when access point is getting connected with the router.

I am not using wireless, but OWB starts up within about 2-4 seconds here after launching it. I am really liking my G4 MacMini with MorphOS2.4 and OWB plus all the other cool apps and games that will run on it.

MorphOS is definitely cool enough for me and getting more "cool" every day. I think every Amiga users should give it a try and see how great it is.

    @diezi7,

Yes, I do really think MorphOS2.4 is awesome! Best Amiga experience I have ever had and it takes me back to the days when I first got my A1000 and would stay up all night using it even though I had to go to work the next day.

The license issue is way over emphasized and blown out of character. It is worth it to get the license and jump into using MorphOS full time for most, if not all of your computing enjoyment.

Take the plunge and jump on board with the rest of us licensed users. :-)

It doesn't matter if I start OWB immediately after MorphOS launch or a couple of minutes after. I always have to wait, or else I get "couldn't connect" message. Perhaps it is connected to my ISP call it, but I don't have such issue on my MacOS with Safari.

    @amigadave

That's right. Please consider that "not cool enough" doesn't exclude "cool already".

It would likely be the same with any other network application, i guess. Nothing in OWB could explain this, in any case.

Really nice to hear that, one more chance to register MorphOS.

But one question, I try to save the sfwdec settings, but they return
