Well, seeing those new effects introduced in MorphOS 2.x I 'm tempted to do new skin stuff and give the old once an overhaul.
However still 1.4.5 here and testing skins in 2 hours (half an hour?!) is probably not much fun ;)

    Back on topic:
    Nice skin site, well done.

    koan?
do you need smaller then 200x160?
thats the size of the pictures thats shown when listing skins.
when pressing the picture you get orignal size.
or do you want another link to see the screen shot in like 400x400?

He wants you to display thumbnails on http://www.sapphire.no/~xzit/skin.html but not just load the original images and resize them online. Thumbnails are getting loaded much faster and when you click on one of them you can show the original picture in fullsize.

all pictures on the site are scaled in advance, in 200x150/160.
soo there is no resizing on the fly while loading page.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi XzIt,

I mean crop 200x200 from the screenshot and show the cropped image without any scaling next to the thumbnail. Then you can click on the thumbnail if you want to view the whole screen.

It doesn't have to be 200x200, it could be any convenient size. I think a cropped shot would be a good way to show the quality of the skin. Thumbnails are better for showing wallpaper.

    Thanks

Well, I'm willing to provide enough information about the skinning system for someone to write proper documentation. I don't actually have the time to write the docs myself.

    nice! esp. the black one.
just one thought: why are the buttons (close, depth, etc..) at the window title are so far from the edge? they would look better at the traditional positions in my opinion.

btw how you achieved to reduce that anr skin that much?

Wow, what a great response to Tokai?s call!
    :-)
My comment goes in jcmarcos?s direction. We see a lot of links to excellent repositories of skins and wallpapers and therefore, for one interested it is a lot of efford, searching, following links etc. One who is not frequently visiting MorphZone hardly will even know about this great stuff. A collection of links on a "central" MorphOS related page would be very good. Why not introducing a link to a section like "3rd party software" or "contributions" on the official MorphOS site? Of course, this section would not be managed by the Devs themselves...
I agree that Morphos looks a little "faceless" or "amorphous" (excuse the strong words ;-) ) to the outside world. Even for a beginner, some research effort is needed to get to get everything up and running.
Forming kind of a corporation out of the MOS-bunch would be good in respect of coordinating development, representing the platform and being more professional.

    @sadddam:

to say the truth butons are... in the original position! In fact, if you eliminate the "window shadow" parts you will see they are in that position. To make the lateral parts of window I use to modify that shadow increasing dimensions due to draw the parts with alpha channel. So, they are transparent. You can use the traditionals "shadows" (those in the "Ferox" skin, f.e.) without loose the window top bar trasparency, or deselecting "Enhanced display" in screen settings. No shadows and no transparency.
For aminet radio, you see an "arrow" in right bottom corner (assuming you use the green skin). Clicking on it open a bar with "# i S T G" symbols. The first is a frame around the anr, windows the others are displays: deselect all and press the arrow again to close the bar. You will have a reduced radio ;)
I'm always hoping you solve Peggy problem...=(

    @BurnTwice:

Agree! As you see in the topic concerning "how should MorphOS be promoted?" it's a long and heavy work that should have done with a coordination. And Senex showed a link in wich you can see the beginning of this work. And it seems real promising....

The skin base is doing trought a big remake, because of my late hours at work haven't been doing mutch latley...
But the site will be updated and uploaded as soon as possible.
Btw im trying to think of a name for the page in general.

What do you guys think of "X-Base"?
    or maybe "SkinHQ", "Skin-HQ"?

Some suggestions would be nice, thx in advance :D

Yes, MTLOS is indeed a good start! Just for fun I looked up MorphOS in Wikipedia. I only found a short article in german.
So there is a shortcoming already at the "first step" of searching facts on MOS. A new article, also in english including a link to MTLOS, would be a good starting point to enter the MOS-world.

    @ XzIt
Maybe Skin-HQ could arouse associations not related to MOS ;-)
Maybe "Pigment" -a treasury of beautiful Butterfly Designs. Or "The Butterfly?s Wing" ....

I don't know if you searched for "MOS" or if you use some other wikipedia than the rest of us, but atleast the Wikipedia I know of returned a perfectly fine article when searching for "MorphOS"...

I searched for "MorphOS" in google and the Wiki article returned was in german. But it?s true, you can switch to the english Version, erhemmm I somehow missed this point. ;-) Sorry...
But still there is no link to the MTLOS. It would be an excellent completion to the short Wiki entry.
In google, yeah, you indeed have a lot of MOS-related hits.
My point was to have comprehensive and easy starting point for retrieving info and content without to much hazzle browsing through the web. I think here in newbies and those interested in MOS.
