    Fab, MorphOS port maintainer of MPlayer par excellence has released an update...and even coded a great GUI to go along with it!

    Get it here:

    Standard-Version: http://fabportnawak.free.fr/mplayer/MPlayer-1.0-svn-2008.11.05-gui.lha

    Altivec enabled version: http://fabportnawak.free.fr/mplayer/MPlayer-1.0-svn-2008.11.05-gui.altivec.lha

    W00t :-)

    In fact, the GUI is the only update in this release. At least the readme indicates no other changes.

    Yes, no core change except a few bugfixes here and there. The core itself is less than 2 months old though. :)

    great piece of software and very important. isnt it possible to make mplayer part of the next morphos release? An email client like Simplemail would be nice too. i mean, a lot of new users (mac mini and efika) shouldnt have to search for every essential system software you need in everyday work. and lets be honest, mplayer would make the perfect media player for morphos. mmkeyboard would be a nice addition too. there is really a lot stuff you could put into the ISO.
    if its not possible due to legal issues, you could put online installers into the ISO. By one click mplayer or the other stuff could be downloaded and automatically installed.
    but there are surely more important things to do right now :)
    just wanted to bring up some ideas.

    Mh, loading playlists work here (either by main menu, dnd or "add" button in playlist window). But maybe it fails to detect it as a playlist for some reason (possibly because it has no pls or m3u extension).

    About including it to MorphOS, well, as you guessed, it may be problematic for licenses reasons (mostly mpeg one IIRC). I don't know what the legal texts say about a contribution tho.

    Indeed! Outstanding job, really. What a talent we have here!

    Well, we have MorphUP by Rupert "natmeg" Hausberger since ages, but it's a pity it's so underused. Perhaps Rupert wasn't able to grab the team's attention enough. Well, also, the absence of installation procedures is une of MorphOS ideas...
    With MorphUP, I guess, the "Contributions" drawer would be infinite, as it would be a link to a huge MorphUP repository that... er... nobody is preparing.

    This way, the MorphOS distribution could still be as lean as always (or even more), awaiting for user customisation - which is where computers begin to be fun, actually.

    The only thing can destroy this pretty dream - we need an agreement between Rupert and MOS-Team.

    @Soundsquare,

    Thank you, but i don't accept paypal donations. I prefer to keep it that way. Maybe afxgroup would gladly accept it once he has recompiled it though (</low attack>). :)

    @ThePlayer,

    Shuffle is one of the things i didn't have time to implement, but it can come in a next version, sure.

    Anyway, you're the ?berman - that's fore sure. If we ever met, don't forget to claim your free drinks.

    And, with MPlayer being that good it's more easy to encourage more ppl to actually register MorphOS - that should - hopefully - benefit you somehow too.

    @Samo79

    Since I implemented it the same way as the original gtk and win32 mplayer gui modules, this mui module just follows the same license as MPlayer.

    Well, this is a good news, so maybe all MPlayer's versions can use it in the future, expecially OS4 users :-)

    Thanks, a GUI is exactly what MPlayer needs :-)

    @ Fab

    Thanks very much for this new version, it is really great :-)

    What do you think, a GUI for Mencoder would also be very handy, it would make
    encoding much easier...

    Something like there was in Devedie...

    Regards
