    I've some trouble setting up Simplemail 0.32 in conjunction with Gmail: neither IMAP nor POP will connect to the Gmail server (when I press "Fetch" I get "Failed to connect to the server").

    I've set the Gmail prefs to accept POP/IMAP (tried enabling one a time as well) and have installed AmiSSL v1 (and v2 and v3). Here's a grab from my prefs window (configured for POP).

    If anyone has an idea how to get this thing working, much obliged.

    ps. YAM works (POP), but I don't like its interface.

    Strange. The only differences between my and your SimplaMail config (in "Receive" settings) are:
    - I have "delete mails" checked
    - I have "avoid duplicates" unchecked
    - I have APOP selected as "Try"
    But they should be meanlingless (at least the first two options).

    You need to have AmiSSL v1 installed as well as v.3. Otherwise, SimpleMail cannot use the certifications.

    Well, setting APOP to "Try" didn't help I'm afraid.

    @Targhan

    I have both installed, guess I'm doing something wrong there. Let's take it from the top: I have deleted all AmiSSL installs and have downloaded the v1 install archive and the v3 install archive. What next :)

    Go ahead and download v2.x too. Then install in this order:

    v3 -> v1 -> v2 -> v3 (don't ask.. it's wierd)

    Things should magically start working... if you ignore a certain request in the installer (hing) :lol:

    [edit] SMTP server port number should be 587 or 465, and I had better luck with 587.

    You have to be more clear dude, so that I can rule out this possibility if it still won't work :)

    So, I install v3. Then I install v1. It sees the newer certs, what should I do? replace or keep? Same goes for the next (v2) and the next (v3). Have to ask :)

    -edit

    K, saving the v1 certs did the trick. Thanx :-)

    Always allow newer certs to go in place of the older ones. According to my reliable source :-P this has to do with AmiSSL being, basically, three different projects. So, if I understand correctly (and it worked for me), you need the AmiSSL v1 libraries and newer certs. But since you need it all, you should just be prepared for things needing the other libraries. Basically, let everything write over everything else. (that's why you re-install v.3 at the end) I suspect that you only need v1 and v2, but since IBrowse likes 3.x--might as well do it all. :-)

    I haven't tried IMAP. Since it took me a few tries to get POP working as well, I was kind of hesitant. Though I do plan on trying IMAP.

    I'm trying a hotmail account on SimpleMail also, and will follow this advice of installing the three AmiSSL variants together. I was told this also in another thread about SabreMSN, but I ended using PolyGlot...

    So far, anyone with experience in setting up a homail account in SimpleMail?

    me not, but theres simplemail 0.33 for morphos since:)
    its still freeze if you start receiving mails and dont wait till it lists all the mails on server, otherwise it might be better than 0.32:)

    I confirm that, after installing all three AmiSSL variants, in version order, SimpleMail works fine with my HotMail account!

    Thanks all for your help!
