    We all seen MPlayer (a great linux movie player) is ported and used as video player for MorphOS from version 1.4, this is offcourse great news, and it makes me very happy indeed, but then again i don't like the fact there is Frogger, wich is a great movie player made ON Amiga FOR Amiga, and still beeing develloped, and been there for years, NOT choosen to be the default movie player for MorphOS, i think the author of Frogger realy desirves the credits, and is now beeing left out of the peace of cake he could have eaten also from.

    Don't get me wrong, Amp also is a great program, but when is the last update of it ?????!!

    Well it's just my opinion, what do you people think about this ?

    Sebastian we symphatise for you!!! Please keep up your great work!!!

    People worked in the past to make Amiga still alive today should be rewarded!!!

    Hope B&R have something to comment about this?

    Hi Felix,

    There are reasons that FroggerNG is not included as the default player in MorphOS. However, I wouldn't consider it left out in the cold. FroggerNG is a very capable movie player, and it fully stands on it's own capabilities.

    I created a control panel for FroggerNG, and JoBBO did the artwork for that plugin as well. So, I wouldn't call it "left out in the cold" at all. Further, the FroggerNG registration price is one of the most reasonable and easy fees to pay for quality shareware. I do not think that FroggerNG will suffer because of this. Please keep in mind that FroggerNG also has many custom routines in it that make it far more unique and fun as compared to an open source port.

    In fact, because FroggerNG is a seperate application, it is a benefit to MorphOS (and AmigaOS). Finally, also because it is a seperate application, the developer, Sebastian, can act upon the program code in a much more agile way. He doesn't have to work on one feature before another because an OEM license tells him he has too. No, I like FroggerNG as it is, and I think we, as users, benefit from it.

    Hi Targan,

    The GUI you made is indeed great, we also made several things for frogger in the past, and we have also contact with the author now and then.

    But still, your registration price story doesn't
    apply in this situation, look at FX_Paint and VHI Studio and FX_Scan, VoyagerPPC, Feeble files, and even our own game, FotoFoto, all paid effords.

    And sure you have more freedom in programming when you are working allone, then you update any time you like, but then again, the superbundle also is dynamic, the software in there also changes and updates.

    If Sebastian would have been asked to make FroggerNG a part of MOS, then the choice would have been up to him to sign a contract or not,
    that would have been better we think.

    But we understand your reaction very well,
    and you have some good points there also.

    I agree.. elf has done a great job on Frogger NG. However, there must be reasons its not in MOS becuase Genesi is friendly with the programmer...
    I will have to take a look at mplayer.
    Do both of these programs play DVDs on Pegasos/MOS?

    @Felix

    The registration nubmers in Superbundle are the ones used for FTP access - are they the same as the ones used for LITE versions of FX paint, etc.

    @Felix

    Excellent points, all of them. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say "it will never be." Remember the SuperBundle can have items added, and even time-limited special editions. I wouldn't be surprised one day to see a special edition SB with a given version of FroggerNG. If there is one thing I've learned about Genesi, the will is there to support what the users want.

    Hmm... Seems like a moot point for now as people are reporting that MPLayer isn't included in MOS1.4 at the moment?

    Anyway, I don't know about everyone but I registered Frogger the day I got MOS up at running, I intend to keep using it for a while longer. ;)

    Targhan:
    Actually, it wont happen. There was a proposition from Genesi to include Frogger in morphos/sb, and I initially agreed to that proposal, but later I changed my mind, and rejected it.
