This screenshot tells almost everything. In detail - bigfoot made some patches for qemu to make it emulate the Pegasos2. And no, MorphOS 1.4 won't run on it due to some bug in OF emulation.

WOW! If MorphOS is freed fom being dependant on exotic hardware, we could expect a huge potential developer base...

wooha! thats pretty awesome! MorphOS would gain a lot of programmers. And i'm pretty sure, that there are a lot of peope who would get excited and interested in MorphOS and as far as i see its even the MorphOS2.0 release which is running on qemu.

MorphOS still requires pegasos hardware, it's just qemu made to emulate it and OF.

I don't really get it. How can QEmu emulate Pegasos II if it's an x86 emulator virtual machine?

Last time I used virtual machines like QEMU or PearPC on Intel X86, these were uncapable to emulate a PPC clocked more than 75 MHz...

A lightweight OS like MorphOS (or even AmigaOS) could run in such slooooow speed, but it is unusable for many uses, like playing DVD videos that require speed clocked minimum at 500/600 MHz.

If the PPC virtual machine was not being DRAMATICALLY enhanched and Clock Speed raised up, then the emulated machine it is almost unusable.

IMHO nice proof of concept, but nothing else.

I would find it interesting to test the binaries I crosscompile. I don't need speed, just the chance of being able to test the binary.

e.g. Imagine you are doing a long travel by train with your laptop and you'd like to do some development, at least this way you could be sure your GUI looks Ok.

Yeah, I know I could try to run UAE but OS3.x lacks some functions and does not run MUI4.

What MorphOS needs is a true commercial purpose. Once it has that the developers will follow, and no emulators will be needed.

MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

This is very interesting. If that Qemu configuration was available I would be able to test dev stuff anywhere.

I guess we would need to see some benchmarks to know the usability. Any chance of seeing that, even if the config is not going to be made available ?

    Thats pretty awesome.

I've always said MorphOS has the most talented developers behind it, bar none.

"I had a short mail correspondence with a morph os guy. He says that the source code for this QEMU fork had since been lost."

So no progress - QEMU Peg2 setup avail?

Sadly, that could boost MOS even OS 4.1 Peg2 sales.

And could enable me to try MOS before MOS for SAM460ex

I am interested in cheap MacMinis while I wait

Yes, about as old as this thread is, i.e. almost 6 years old.

OK, why not asking to release the QEMU setup on net?

I am first willing to test it and register on x64, while I wait for MOS on SAM460ex
and many would be able to try it in sandbox

    And the result is?

Sometimes you could provide an informative answer, not just hyperlinks.

It makes you look like a bot.

I don't know. You asked whether there's any progress on making MorphOS run under QEMU and I gave you a link where you can read up on it.

    > Sometimes you could provide an informative answer

I've been giving you informative answers ad nauseam, but you more often than not just choose to ignore them.

    > not just hyperlinks.

As I said, you can go out of your way and read everything for yourself.

    > It makes you look like a bot.

I'm fine with that. But hey, don't be a lazy bum. Click my link and use your reading skills to inform yourself.

I think there has been some cross-postings on this issue to the MorphOS Mailing List recently? Laire answered a few of the posts, not that I'm qualified to comment on any part of the discussion (it's all gibberish to me! ;-))
