MorphOS 2.0 questions

    Hello!

I have some questions about MorphOS 2.0.

    1. Will it be able to download it or do I need to purchase it from a store?

2 How is the installation process for the EFIKA? No cdrom makes things a bit tricky.

    3. Does it run on Amiga with PPC?

    4. Will it be able to upgrade my Pegasos system or do I need to make a new fresh install?

    5. Any new graphic card support? Like the Radeon 9700pro? Damn fast cards. It would be nice using them with MorphOS.

    6. If I have more than one computer able to run MorphOS, do I have to purchase one copy of MorphOS for each one of them?

    7. What is the main diffrences between 1.4.5 and 2.0?

Thanks for your time and hopefully you have time to answer my questions.

    Good morning,

    1. No, you have to buy it at your favorite dealer
    2. Mos for Efika will be shipped on an usb storage
    3. no idea
    4. You can update your system, but it will be better
    to do fresh install
    5. 2D drivers will be there, 3D?
    6. One copy per system, i think so
    7. Have a look at the other threads here

    regards

Apart from these you did good. ;)

    1. Yes, it will be freely downloadable, but you have to get/purchase a key online to get full use of the system.
    2. There are several ways to get MorphOS installed on Efika, more details will be revealed at release.
    3. Yes, it runs on Amigas with phase5 PPC hardware (though there are some requirements, see the MorphOS PowerUP page)

    3. Actually 2.0 does not. Maybe at some undefined point in future... As it was stated several times already a PowerUP release of 2.0 depends entirely on the amount of donations from 1.4.5 PUP users.

    1. Could you plz unveil the amount which would satisfy the developers?
    2. How many Mos Pup registrations have been done so far?
    3. What is the current state of Mos Pup account?

I'd be glad if you could answer these questions straight forward, without evasive answers plz. Therefore we, meaning the Mos Pup users, know what we should know and we could slightly improve the situation.

Thank you for the answers in advance.

Sorry, things like the amount of regsistrations are not public knowledge.

As for 2.0 for PUP, let's get back to this topic after the Pegasos and Efika versions are out.

    Thank you for the answers

I've got another portion of questions.

    1. What about Mos2.0 for Mac machines? There's a video showing Mos2.0 in action running on Mac Mini. Some say that there is also a version for iBook.
    Could you confirm that?

    2. What about Power Macs? Is it possible or has anyone managed to run Mos 2.0 on a PowerMac G4 equipped with Radeon gfx as their prices are very encouraging recently to buy them and tends to be more and more encouraging.

    3. Is it possible that after release of Pegasos and Efika version we will see a version of Mos 2.0 for Macs? If so, supposingly when? Towards the end of the year?

In the according amiga.org thread there was something said like don't expect anything before end of year.

Mac versionl depends on the motivation of the guy who did the port. As for PowerMacs, I don't think we have any at the moment :)

    3. It's not impossible, see above ;)

    Hi!
And thanks for all the answers. So the Radeon 9700 IS possible to use with MorphOS? Just not 3d drivers yet? Are someone working on them?
Maybee just 2 more weeks then :) .

I have no problem with paying two licences. Just needed to check.
Thanks again and good luck with the macport! :)

It's possible as long as the card is electrically compatible with your hardware, and the driver knows the ID of it.

Sort of, just don't expect anything soonish...

AFAICT the only way to donate is Paypal and that is *no* option for me (and maybe others as well). Are there other ways to make a donation?

Hardware donations (like gfxcards, PPC machines, etc) of stuff we don't have, but want to support, is always welcome. If you think you have something like this details can be sorted via IRC or mail with the usual suspects...

Oh, it never occurred to me that a HW donation would also count. But then I don't have that much and most of it I would like to keep :) I could offer a PCI-SCSI hostadapter but its rather old and probably not really interesting anymore given the amount of SCSI devices available today...

However, I am fine with donating money but not through Paypal. Wouldn't it be possible to transfer money directly to the bank account behind paypal?

Well SCSI Port was the main reason i have chosen MOS over OS4.
OS4 didnt had SCSI back then and i didnt want to dump all my huge drives, connected to scsi2ide adapters.

I have all kinds of hardware laying around here that I could donate.
Video cards PCI/AGP, SCSI cards, netwok cards, etc... Let me know what you guys need or already have. I'd be happy to donate them.

I hear Henes will accept donations in unmarked Euros sealed in a manilla envelope... you can always try that. Though he has you send it to some dodgy Astonia address. Weird.

    @ Mos team

Thanks for answering questions here. I have a couple if you dont mind

    1. Will there be a feature set announced for the new release soon?

    2. How is distribution to be dealt with? Dealers or private individuals?

    3. What is the estimated cost of Mos 2?

Not a member of the MorphOS team, but this is really an old question:
feature set will be released togheter with the new release. Not that a
lot of the features are secret anyway (see thread by jmarcos). The
same should be true for the new version of the site, which I heard was
ready since some time, but will be online more or less simultaneously
    with the release.
Fell free to correct me if I'm wrong.

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

If you are not a member of the mos team perhaps then you should from refrain from giving official sounding answers? :-)

I found out some more questions :)

    1. Is the macmini version to be expected sometime 2008/2009?

I have an Efika and a Pegasos 1but I want something more powerful.
I thought about buying a Peg2 but I rather wait a year or so for the Macmini-port because that is a more powerful computer.

    2. Is there plans for a MorphOS version for the MPC8610 ?
    Just curious :)
