Emulated, unofficial branch with no guarantee for compatibility with the official branch (now or in the future)

That should be enough to convince people to avoid it.

Also remember that "bigger version number" doesn't always mean "has significant bugfixes and/or new features". And when comparing two totally separate branches, you really can't compare different releases only by their version numbers.
