I want to be able to see the mp3 files in my mp3 directory without a show all files.
I changed the default audio icon(a loudspeaker) to the .mp3 icon from my amiga4000.
These show up nicely but also only after a show all files.
This while the .mp3 icon does show up in the envarchive/sys/audio as a real icon.
Any help on this please...

First I assume you use ambient. Icon-less files are only shown in all or thumb submode (that's similar to workbench, scalos & magellan). In icon submode (except for list/icon submode), only files with real icons will be shown.

The fact that you can choose a default icon image for any mimetype doesn't change this rule.

Yes using ambient.(1.43 with mui4).
So only way to get icon-less files like mp3 to show up is to put an icon onto each file?
In workbench it is possible to save the show all files windowsetting.
This way it will show up next time.
Or am I mistaking now...I don't fire up my amiga's as much anymore after the purchase off the peg2.

In workbench (and in ambient), you can save a window mode and position if and only if the drawer has its own icon (actually ambient makes an exception for drives that have deficons, as it can store their mode in the deficon).

List mode in ambient can save the submode in any case, but list mode itself still depends on the previous rule.

to put it simple, is there a way to make ambient have the View All files Option as default in every Window? Perhaps a snapshot command or something?

In my Amiga1200 the snapshotting of this option worked fine in all my hard drives. The same did not happened in my Peg.

In workbench, it didn't work that way either. Icon-less drawers couldn't be snapshot, and thus their mode just used the one set in def_drawer.info (which wasn't exactly handy to configure).

Is it possible to let showgirls thumbnail editor add an thumbnail icon to mp3 files?
A default icon so all mp3's are with icon so they are visible?
