Yesterday I installed the latest Ambient release (nodebug version) of 04.10.2007.

I copied all the files over the old ones, but I cannot copy over some files from the image/ drawer (especially the menu_#? ones). It says that the "object is in use" and cannot overwrite them with the new ones. Any ideas?

But with the old images Ambient works normally.

Another question I have is that the toolbar buttons are all the same (the arrow), I tried some methods to change the images, but I had no luck. Is there any possibility to change them?

Rename file you want to replace (old file) - copy file you want to see (new file) - reboot - delete renamed files.

Snoopy and Snoopdos will help you :) Look at my list of images.
Also you can download set of images from Ambient's home page (bottom of Nightly builds page)

Snoopy, Snoopdos, debuglog does not help to find any over images for buttons "bookmarks" "switch_view" or similar (marks, mark etc.)!

The toolbar /button image system is not completly now and/or has some errors!

    1. False images bound:

    - "Copy" and "Copy as", "move" and "move as" etc. is not the same, but the differrence "as" is not visible at picture only mode!

Button "copy as", "move as" and "paste from clipboard as"
used the same images "filecopy" "filemove" and "clippaste"
as "copy", "move" and "paste from clipboard" (without "as")!

2.Button "switch view" and "Bookmarks" is also not completly

All Another Buttons has a completly line with Button Name, Command line/args and Image Name.

    - but "Switch view" and "Bookmarks" has no picture bound! (only ambient-internal "arrow" /fall back?)

    - but "Switch view" and "Bookmarks" has also no comandline/args in ambient.prefs! (used another "rules" as all another buttons /is a fast hack?)

See (when bound) at "bookmarks" and/or "switch_view" and compare to all another button in ambient.prefs!

    > Also you can download set of images from Ambient's home page (bottom of Nightly builds page)

Images with "bookmarks", "switch_view" and "...as" is also not included in any archive yet!

switch view doesn't have a single image as it's another kind of button. it uses one image per view. images have following naming scheme:
    view_<viewname>_<viewmodename>
    some examples:
    view_icons_all, view_icons_thumbs, view_list_all, view_image_normal, view_image_scaled, view_text (this one doesnt have viewmode so it's ommited).

each image is displayed according to current view.

    work on image/text - windows :-)

    1. But another Bug: The Button "Format" at image/text - window!

    > view_icons_all, view_icons_thumbs, view_list_all,

    "view_icon_..." without "s" :-)

    summary work:

    view_image_normal
    view_image_scaled

    view_text

    view_icon_all
    view_icon_icons
    view_icon_thumbs

    view_list_all
    view_list_icons
    view_list_thumbs

    > naming scheme: view_<viewname>_<viewmodename>

At devices list following does not work:

    view_device(s)_icon(s), view_device(s)_list(s), view_icon(s), view_list(s)

    2. What the f*** is the viewname for devices list?

    3. And "bookmarks"?

device list - name scheme brocken? (icons_icons -> dlist_lists?)

But thank you, now work the view mode and bookmark images! :-D

    (remain errors:
    - missing assign "...as" images for "...as" buttons and
    - unnecessary "format" button at image/text windows.)

no, naming scheme is not broken. view name for devices in icon mode is called 'icons'. for list it's called 'dlist'. they only have one viewmode (dunno if it's even needed at all) and it's called 'Icons' for both of them.

Drag the Icons to the Trashcan.
Then you can copy the new Ones.

    Snoopium:
Run it from Startup-sequence before LoadWB, wait for Ambient, open Settings/Window, window. Look into snoopium.log (try to find "PROGDIR:images").

    Copy/Copy As (and so on):
There is no difference for me :) I use only Copy As/Move As... commands :)

    Bookmarks and other:
image tbar_bookmarks used for toolbar. (images bookmarks and favourites are garbage)
Ambient not loads any images with name #?switch#?. But now you know about it :)

I downloaded and installed the set of images at the bottom of the Ambient nightly build page and now the toolbars are ok, no more "left arrows"... :-)

    Regards

What do you mean? Can you show an example of nontransparent icon (btw, there are PNG images, not icons)?

    Hi,

you see on my screengrab that the background of the icons (really they are png images youre right!) is not transparent e. g. if you look at the green arrow you see that there is a gradient backround which I would like to be transparent.

    Regards

I don't see your screengrab, but I think I know you mean now. Try to change settings for button background in MUI Settings for Ambient. Set background for container to "Same as parent object". But... It's global action for all Ambient buttons. You can see result in my grab.

    Hi mobydick,

thanks for your advice and yes it works like this but then the nice 3d look for buttons is gone :-(

    Please see file:
    http://www.rmsvideo.ch/public_rms/morphos/ambient_toolbar_2.jpg

Perhaps this could be programed differently so transparent background is possible but also the 3d look for buttons?

I have another problem as I can't change the "Bookmarks" image. I copied a new/other image to MOS/Ambient/images and named it "Bookmarks" but it stays the sphere (sort of default Bookmarks image?)

Do you have an idea why? Perhaps a bug?

In Ambient Settings/Window you can choose border for toolbar buttons. Look at picture.

    Rename image to "tbar_bookmarks".
