Hi all. I'm having trouble with one of my harddrives. It started as filesystem errors but now the partition wont even format. Format returns an "I/O error" after about 15%. Are there any ways to map out bad blocks in MorphOS as it was in older HDToolbox ? Any hints or tips ?

Hmm, sounds like the problem I had some days ago.

The only solution that worked for me was overwriting the complete harddisk with 0 Bytes.

So I must move on to linux to get out of this ? Besides, I have no space elsewhere to back up my other partitions while erasing the whole drive. The problem remains only on one of them. But thanks anyway pOS, I'll keep this in mind if nothing else works out.

Did you try SFSDoctor? (in case you use SFS) else try the old Disksalve. Both programms have a repair option.

Yes I have tried SFSDoctor and it couldn't help me this time. This partition is SFS and I think DiskSalv only works on FFS and OFS. But I think this is caused by an unuseable /corrupt block in the drive which should be mapped out and never accessed anymore.

Ehem, buy a new hard disk drive, copy your data over to the new drive and do not try using this crap drive anymore These cheap hdds nowadays do not last very long anymore.

check how many bad blocks are stored in the HD with Q-Device (above all the "Grown list") and then ... replace the HD!
