    Hi everyone,

I've just bought an USB external HD that I plan to use to keep a
backup of all my multimedia (mostly pics) that currently resides on my
    pegasos.

Is there some utility to backup/synchronize the new files/drawers to
the HD? I'd rather use something that just copies the new/updated
files since I have around 40 GB of pics, and it takes AGES to copy
    them all.

    Thanks!

RSYNC for MOS would be cool.
If you have linux, you can use it.
It does a pretty good job, has mirror/diffcopy function and so on.

Well, maybe somebody really should do RSYNC then.
Its a command line tool, so it shouldnt be to hard for somebody who knows what he is doing (not me :) )

There is also MirrorCopy, which I use myself and which works quite nicely.

    ---snip---
The main features of MirrorCopy are:

    - The destination directory will contain exactly the same files
and subdirectories as the source directory - and nothing more!

    - The attributes (date, comment and protection flags) of the
files and subdirectories in the destination directory are set
exactly to the same values as in the source directory.

    - MirrorCopy takes care of what the destination directory allready
    contains:
    - only those files are copied, that need to be copied.
    - only those subdirectories are created, that need to be created
    - only those files and subdirectories are removed from the
destination directory, that need to be removed.
This is very usefull if you don't want to create a mirror copy,
but if you want to update an allready existing mirror copy.

    - MirrorCopy can keep deleted or overwritten files in special
    'deleted-/old-files' directories.

    - The contents of the source directory is not changed in any way!
Not even the protection flags (like the archive flag) are changed.

I use FolderSync for several years now and it works fine for doing an daily update of my backup disk.

If nothing is changed on doing a mirror, does the tool really notice if something is altered on the source hd? Mhh sounds a bit strange to me
