Dear all,

I've installed the latest nightly build of Ambient, and I have the following issues with it:
+ Filetype scripts no longer run (even though they are still there in the same directory).
+ def_xxx icons do not work.

How do I get these things to work?

This Filetypes Paket (with Installer, Backup, VoodooX Version2 and much more) work also at last ambient (Mai 2007).

Hint: If necessary then adjusting Paths for your installed applications in WBStartup/FileTypesPath with a Texteditor!

For the filetypes, it "looks" a bit clearer (even though I would have GLADLY kept my old ones).

I will look into the guide to see how to fix the stuff with the deficons (what was changed between versions?).

First, i don't even remember "1.42" had filetype support, but whatever.

In the meantime, I think filetypes path changed from mossys:ambient/filetypes/ to sys:prefs/ambient/filetypes. But anyway, now you shouldn't even bother about that since there's a filetype gui where you can adjust both actions and deficons (to add a deficon, you just drop your favorite icon on icon area in the filetype editor window).

About deficons, the naming scheme is more elaborated than old "workbench" def_<extension>.info thing. As an exemple, the icon associated to video/x-avi mimetype will be <deficon path>/video/x-avi.info.

If x-avi.info doesn't exist, then video/default.info would be tried and if it's still not found, then it would be <deficon path>/default.info or so.

This is much better than relying only on extension.

Okey, I give up, how do you open the .tgz files? I've tried untgz ambient.tgz but it says

UnTGZ: File "ambient.tgz" is either not a gzip file or
not in a gzip format that UnTGZ can handle!
UnTGZ: Operation failed

but itjust tried it with another file, and that decompressed fine, what's going on!?

Typical, I downloaded it again, for the 4th time, and err... it worked!
