When I either reply, forward, or create a new message in Simplemail (v0.29, MOS version) the window which appears does not render correctly - it just shows whatever was behind the window before it opened. If the window is moved the content just becomes corrupted.
I can read e-mails with no problems - both in the preview pane and in a message window.
This seems to be a display problem related to Simplemail, as I'm not having any (similar) problems with other programs, however I've ensured I have manually installed the MOS versions of the required custom classes (Nlisttree, betterstring, etc) into sys:classes/mui - I checked also to ensure they were the same versions as existed in mossys:classes/mui, which they were, so I deleted them from sys/classes/mui.
Iirc popplaceholder has no MOS version, so have just installed the 68k into sys:classes/mui.

I've run Snoopdos, and the only fail appears to be a call to env:mui/novmem-something-or-other.

First, there is SimpleMail 0.30 for MorphOS.

    Have you got a MUI4? I have :)
    Hmm, i have a popplaceholder 68k in mossys:classes. I don't remember where i get it from.
It is pretty simple, if there is a never version of class which is standard part of mui4, replace it in mossys:classes/mui. If not copy it to sys:classes/mui. Check also sys:apps/mui. Do not let to mix it together, avoid doubles :) Newest MUI classes are listed in my quickguide. Try install them all and properely. Good Luck ;-)

    Hi Korni,
    Thanks for your reply.
Yes, you're right it is simplemail 0.30 I have installed. I knew the MOS version number was one below the OS4/68k version numbers, just got the versions muddled up.

I'm fairly new to MOS - have installed it on BPPC previously, but did not get far past the toying around stage. Now that I have a Peg (Peg1, with April 2 fix) I have started to put together a real system, and starting finding issues - all good fun :-)
It does mean I'm kind of lost a bit though, and full of what are probably FAQ's (although not answered on the FAQ page as far as I can see).

I thought the latest version of MUI was integrated into the MOS distribution?
Anyway, in reading up I see that MUI4 is still in beta. Is there a clear benefit in installing MUI4? Are there issues with having MUI4 custom classes installed on a base MOS installation? Also, where can I obtain the latest beta release?

I did a little bit of reading up and understood that the convention was just to place PPC MUI classes into MOSYS:classes/MUI for and 68k MUI classes into SYS:classes/MUI. Is it not as clear cut as this?

I have a Radeon 7000 graphics card installed - is there a hardware compatability forum anywhere so that I can rule out it being a basic hardware issue?

    Regards

You may find useful this list, where all the upgrades available for MorphOS 1.4.5 are mentioned, together with the relevant web sites.

MUI4 with debug is little slower than MUI3.9. W/O it you can't use Ambient (actual Ambient is really great. IMO way better than Magellan or Scalos.), Sputnik :-)

SYS:Classes/MUI is for all classes (both MorphOS and AmigaOS) except classes from MUI install.
Same rule with libs, devs etc.

Yes Simplemail was also my favorite emailer.
But it now doesn't show the new emails in the incoming folder before switching back&forth to a other folder.
And it won't remember the size off the folders.
Also it won't print emails correctly which yam does.
But yam doesn't displays the html in emails.
But prints ok and has no gui problems.
    You gotta choose...

I don't have problems with Simplemail.

Print works fine, I just tested to make sure.

I'm using the latest simplemail and latest MUI4.

I'm betting on your reply issue being a MUI class.

I would look at every class to confirm you are on the latest, you may want to completely remove and reinstall if nothing else works.

    Regards,

    Matt

I'll have a go on the mui classes then.
Best place for looking for the latest classes?
Aminet is not the best place for the latest ones.

    Hi Amiga4001:

I don't have a centralized location for MUI classes, mine have been collect from various authors websites...

Before I updated the classes, I would update to MUI4 or revert back to an earlier release of simplemail.

When I updated to MUI4, quite a few months back, an earlier version of simplemail didn't update the list properly.

MUI4 is required by alot of new software, including the new Ambient releases. I would invest the time and update to MUI4 with the lasted build of Ambient.

As a quick test install an older release of simplemail to confirm this.

    Regards,

    Matt

    @DoctorMorbius_FP
Thanks for the link - I'll find that useful.

    @ Matt
Thanks for the advice - didn't think of trying an older version of Simplemail - I'll give it a try.
