    Hi all,

I'm using YAM (nightly builds) as an e-mail clinet and experiencing the following strange behavour.

It seems that some of this strange behavour is due to MUI 4 (latest available beta) as under MUI 3.9 it doesnt happen.

After a reset of the Pegasos when I start YAM and open an e-mail with an attachment which I'm going to save to the HD the system freezes for several seconds. This only happens the first time I do this operation. It doesnt happen when I repeat it without having reset the Pegasos. I even can leave and restart YAM, it want happen anymore.

Does anyone have the same? or is it just me.

Also the icons do not show up correctely for attached files. Even though I have a def_project.info (it's a png) installed it want show a correct icon. The file "icons1.jpg" showas the icons I have in the path. The file "attachment_icon1_1.jpg" shows the icon in YAM when reading an e-mail with an attachment and "attachment_icon2_1.jpg" shows the icon in YAM when reading an e-mail but no def_project.info is installed.

The developper of YAM just told me that png icons work fine under AmigaOS.

    Any idea?

    Regards

    Christoph

You probably get hits or at least a lot of debug output.

Check the debuglog with getramdebuglog <file> if you use ramdebug option at boot, or on a terminal if you use serial debug (which would explain the "freeze" for a few seconds).

I have not this problem. I have another one. I can't start YAM twice without reset of Pegasos. When I start YAM second time, the mailer freezes at "Initiliazing libraries..." stage. So, I should restart my Pegasos to launch YAM again.

I have changed the path to default icons for Ambient (Ambient settings/Misc). Now AWeb and YAM use the icon you can see in attachment. And I have old Amiga def_project.info in the new path and in envarc:sys/ ...

PNG icons are a feature of Ambient and not supported in MorphOS icon.library because that is bound to the standard 8bit image system. So if any datatype or app uses icon.library to retrieve the icon image, it won't display the PNG image for sure.

I think displaying attachment icons is an OS4-only feature. :( Maybe the author will support MorphOS icon.library in the future too...

Ok, this is correct, I tried it and an "old" icon does work (see attached jpg).

Now perhaps this could be fixed but by whom? Should I submit some infos the developpers of YAM?

Is that only me, or somebody else gets no icon toolbar anymore, since the YAM switch to thebar.mcc?

the icons of the toolbar have changed.
    there are nomore multiple icons.
every icon is a separately file now.
you have to update the icons folder too!! :)

Here are some (IMHO) nicer icons, they are also 32-bit, so don't look as ugly on various backgrounds as the offical ones:

They are from Mason's AISS collection.
