Unless I have missed something in my attempts to install MOS PUP there is not a text editor or edit utility supplied with MOS? What software would users recommend for editing text files like startup-sequences etc? Thanks.

You're not wrong: there's no text editor included with MOS 1.4.x yet (this is said to be subject to change with 1.5).
I would suggest you to register at MDC: http://developer.morphosppc.com/ . Download and install the SDK, it has quite a lot of useful things (including a full Geek Gadgets installation) and you can download also a free version of GoldEd (namely: MorphEd) that is quite good.

Or you could search on Aminet for eNote and Wordpad, both MUI based, both 68k, both working good on MorphOS...

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

Exactly!;-) I had already checked aminet, that's why I was asking for recommendations.

    Andrea,

Thanks for the advice. I had already checked aminet and needed some guidance to separate the "wheat from the chaff" ;-)

try them all.. each to its own. Something suitable for someone else doesnt necessarily cut for you.
Cygnus Ed can still be bought, I would recommend it myself.

Thanks, I think I still have a copy which I bought for my A4000 several years back. I'll dig it out and also give it a try.

    BlacksEditor is my favorite.
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1
