    Hi everyone,

I was wondering how do you move files with ambient? With the original ambient, dragging files used to move them (and holding down ctrl forced a copy). However, with the latest available compiled snapshot, it always copies the file (no matter what key you hold down).

How do I configure it to work like before?

    Thanks a lot!

Fixed a typo in subject to avoid confusion.

@Fab: No, it doesn't (alt for move and ctrl for copy, that was the first thing I've tried).

    winterhunter,

Which keymap do you use ?

Maybe a bugreport to ambient could be of use.

In fact, you must push alt before take your icone.

In this order, it rocks !

I think this method of handling files is unusable. Why does ambient copy files instead of moving them? I think we shouldn't change the old and good methods we have...

I think this is a good reason to improve Ambient List functionality.

It should be possible to open list with double clicks on desktop like in Opus and there should be indicators on the list that say wich is the SOURCE and which is the DESTINATION. Like in opus, maybe useing different colour. With this system, moveing/copying actions will be fu##ing easy.

When this will be done I'll porbably trash completely Dopus Magellan from my system (sigh! :-( ) and use only Ambient.

    @BatteMan:
I've tried that, and the result is the same: copy (graphically,
however, there is no "+" on the ghosted icon).

However there is one thing I've forgot to say: when I drag files in
the same drive, no "+" sign is shown (however, files are copied).

When I drag files between two drives, and press alt, the "+"
disappears (however, files are copied and not moved).

I use the pc-105f keymap, the system localization is Great Britain (I
wanted to have MOS in English), and use Gunne's Ambient snapshot (the
    one with Rave3D acceleration).

the moving with ALT is workng at my MOS system (with 01.16. ambient and hungarian keymap), however i use dragon (for screendragging ofcoz:) and sometimes the ALT is moving the whole screen instead of the item - thats make it fun to use:))

the ALT must be pressed before you get the item otherwise it wont work.

@Saddam: I can press ALT before, during or after dragging, the effect is the same - files are copied.

I do not know, nor does Gunne (the question was already asked on the Ambient thread). But there is a switch for Rave3D accel that can be activated before compilation.
