As a Pegasos newbie (and travelling away fom Peggy atm) do I need to upgrade to the new new 3.2 version of Poseidon? Might sound like a silly question, and usually I always upgrade (and pay/donate) for software I use. However in this case Poseidon came with the 1.4.5 version of MorphOS supplied with my PegasosII and unless I misread the instructiosn there were warning about messing around with the system files? I suppose my question is should Poseidon be considered as a system file or a 3rd party add-on? Please advise.

    Happy New Year

Quite simple, read the release-note for 3.2 and if you really need some of it update, otherwise stick with what you have.

This pretty much depends on you. You can take a look at the readme (or a closer look at the docs) and see what is new: and if it fits you, update. For instance Poseidon 2.2 never recognized my cheap joypad. Version 3.2 recognize it correctly, and I can use it straight on, because hid.class has been updated. I heard also massstorage support is much better, and some memory sticks and other devices get mounted faster and more reliably. There are new devices supported and a couple of neat new features. So, you decide if it's for you (or you could test it and later go back to Poseidon 2.2 if you don't like/need it).

Poseidon is indeed part of the system (it's in sys:MorphOS/ ), but this is an official update from its author, so don't worry. Someone reported that the prefs modules in Poseidon 3.2 for MOS crashes, but in that case you can use the Triton configuration program instead until Chris fixes mprefs (I didn't have a problem, BTW).

    To you, too.

My Logitech Dual Action joypad not recognized by Poseidon 3.2, so I use hid.class from 2.2. Flash
drive works fine both in Poseidon 2.2 and 3.2. Faster?.. May be, but not faster then USB 2.0 :)

I could not connect a digicam (well, 3 kinds of) and wanted to upgrade. Installed 3.2 with supplied script and usb prefs from System prefs cause a freeze. Tried to update it by hand, but guide says about some files missing in archive (btw) and it did not helped either. Any ideas?

    Which manufacturer and model?

Personally I have tried quite a few digicams and all have worked plug and play.

It is mystic... Some days ago, after several reboots my Logitech Dual Action and Canon PowerShot
S70 was recognized, and now both devices works fine.

I tried one hp (don't remember which) and Nikon Coolpix 4100. It was with older versions of Poseidon. Now I have my own Nicon 5600 and could not test it well because of mentioned problem (freeze of usb section in prefs).

Dont use systemprefs. Use the Trident-Prefsprogram
    that comes with Poseidon.
    It should be in System:Prefs

I got to fooling around with the Peg and this update. SO I
reinstalled it, this time actually bothering to add the Execute
PoseidonROMUpdate line to my startup sequence.. And guess what??

It WORKS!! Its totally RAD!! I can play mpeg movies from a CF card
through the USB port, where before mounting that card at all, if it
worked, would soon crash the box.

This takes me one step closer to getting off the Mac upgrade
bandwagon. Its fun, and I like things about OS X but compared to
    Morphos, its a pig. This 600MHz G3 Peg I can embarrass the 500MHz G3
Mac, at pretty much everything. They both like the same RAM too, both
have Radeon 7000 era graphics cards too. USB is way nicer on the Peg
    than on the Mac :-D

So, to sum up.. When doing the update, don't be a 'tard like me and
forget/neglect to do the PoseidonROMUpdate step. Then it will work
great. You too will build a little Platon42 shrine and worship it in
    your home.. Or something.

    Thanks again Platon!!
