New AWeb version has been released for MorphOS, get it here

Personally I've been using old AWeb version (back from 2002) as I always found the newer updates VERY unstabile...

But this new release, it WORKS! First AWeb update for me since 2002 :-D

What did you do to make it work? What did you install and so on? How to install ClassAct right on morphos etc?

    Regards,

You dont have to do anything but extract it and run the included settings setup script. I am hosting that on my site. All the stuff you need is included in the folder it makes after you extract it.

If it's working (which I still have problems with it), do up a readme and upload it ;-)

Can somebody help me? I'm having problems here. Like all the popup menus show as blank boxes...
They work but you have to know what's where in the box.

Also do we lose the options to alter the animation and buttons? :(

you shouldnt need to install classact at all. Everything is in the folder. I dont have classact and it works fine.

All previous versions where running in the same way.
And just because a programm is "running" does not
mean that it "works" ... :-P

Robin what is your problem with Aweb? It works fine, in fact I would say for a lot of pages it works better then V and even some pages work better then on Ibrowse. It seems like you have some sort of personal problem with it.

    @Acill

    Sure it's a personal problem :-)
Like with all other software/hardware preferences.
Some of my reasons for example are:
AWeb supports not one image format 100%.
    Special problem is transparency.
(Something IB and V are even better than IE)
It's GUI is ugly and not intuitiv.
( Why use a gui system that is crashy and ugly ?
And worse not supported on MorphOS )
It's layout is slow when it comes to big sites,
quite often you get only an empty site even though
it has already loaded the page and just a few images
    are left.

Sure it get's better every 3 month when a new release
arrives. But at it's current speed it needs 2 years
until it catches up with V and IB in their current state.
And then it's still outdated ...
When you have to rewrite the browser because not
one part is usable why not start from scratch ?

http://www.paihia.co.uk/ and Amizilla have done exactly this.
I think those two projects will produce a modern webbrowser
before AWeb is anywhere near an amiga-standards-supporting
    browser ...

sure, i agree that AWeb is not "uptodate" compared to Opera/firefox and so on, but i'm happy to see improvements. thanks to everyone who has worked hard on this.

I put this version on my peg and - YEAH! - AWeb finally works on it! (and I also put the 68k version on my WinUAE and that also works fine).

i'm testing out my CD-web site on it and using mplayer i can get my mov files to play just fine.

what are you guys using to play avi's???? (from browsers).

use your mime settings. there is an example of how to do this on the Frogger website: FroggerRules

The same concepts can be used with mplayer, and should also work through aweb's mime types.

well, yes, that's how i have used it on my emulation. i like mplayer on my peg, but it don't always play certain avi's.

i'll be testing frogger on the peg.

This is great, I'm glad to see the Aweb guys getting somewhere, but..
Would it kill these guys to pack it in lha format?? Everyone
including even myself, has LHA and knows how to use it as opposed to
    ggzip etc..

    Minor gripe, I know..
