I bought it because of MorphOS too. Nothing else!
    PegasosII G3 PPC @ 600MHz, 256MB MEM, 120GB HD, 36x IDE CD-ROM, LG 15.1"LCD monitor

Without MorphOS, there would be no reason for me buying it.

I bought my Pegasos also exclusively for
MorphOS. I went from a Peg1 to Peg II.
    Here is my current config:

    Antec Aria case
    256MB ram
    Radeon 7000
    40GB HD

Bought my Peggy for MOS. Have never had that much luck with linux - or maybe it's that I don't like linux. Also bought the Peggy because after what happened between H&P and Amiga, Inc. and the Amithlon developer. Decided to never again buy anything 'AMIGA' again. 8-)

Bought my Mac for real work! :-D

Would love to see MOS mature. Would be willing to pay for MOS 1.5. :-)

    Yes to run only MOS.

My peg II was purchased to run MorphOS, no interest in other OS options. I probably would put it on my pc if I was going to anyways...

I've only got MorphOS installed on my Pegasos these days.

I think Genesi's point is that the number of people who will buy a Pegasos for MorphOS -- at its current state of development -- is very limited, and maybe a large percentage of such people already have bought one. (Although I disagree with the statement that the "amiga market" is saturated. I think there are still plenty of sales to be made there, but not really enough to sustain the Pegasos.)

I think MorphOS gives Genesi and the Pegasos an extra something special. Without it, Genesi is just another hardware maker. That may be enough, according to their business plan, but it makes them much less interesting to me and maybe to others as well. I think the larger market might have become aware of Genesi (or got a more favorable impression) due to things like demos on MOS, and this is a strength that should be leveraged any way possible.

The problem with MorphOS development is a Catch-22: Only current and former Amiga users will accept MOS in its present state. I don't think the market for a Pegasos running MOS 1.4.3 or 1.5 is much bigger than what we have now. To develop MOS to the point that it would actually appeal to new people, money has to be spent to develop it. If people aren't buying Peg/MOS1.4.3s in significant numbers, Genesi has to sell to the Linux market. If this brings in enough cash, then hopefully MorphOS can be developed to the point that it can drive sales again, and once again show that Genesi is an idea company and not just a board maker.

This is probably just saying what's already obvious, but it's my two cents' worth.

I bought my Peg 1 and my Peg 2 ORIGINALLY to run MorphOS.
However, lately I have been thinking more and more about going over to
Linux. It's not only because of the latest internal squabble that
boiled over into the public. It's for many reasons that I won't get
    into right now.

Genesi's recent announcement only confirms what everyone knows whether
they want to admit it or not. MOS cannot be counted on to make the
company successful. It is far too immature and 5 guys are
not going to put it on par with the other OS offerings
anytime soon. Marketing the hardware and software to Amiga users did
originally drive the platform, but that was almost 2 YEARS AGO! All
of the Amiga users that were going to buy Pegasos computers have
pretty much done so. Time marches on and Genesi must march with it.

The future of MorphOS may be murky and it may well just be an
interesting side project for the foreseeable future. Again, I think
everyone knows this whether they want to admit it or not. However,
the hardware is good--excellent even. I think it will make an
excellent Linux platform (Gentoo in my case).

I'm not leaving MOS, it will still have a home on my Peg 1. Hopefully
the fortunes of MorphOS, my favorite OS, will improve in the years
    ahead.

Bought only for MorphOS. Linux is nice addition which quickly fills some gaps (and serves as source of ported software and ideas ;-)) but on x86 it runs much faster and doesn't have many hardware compatibility problems. I would never buy a Pegasos without MorphOS.
If MorphOS fails i will join AROS team to help them to port the system. I already contribute some work there, but not hartdware-related.

    MOS yes, Linux nah.

(...and if I really wanted to use the penguin, I'll be running it on my 2.6Ghz laptop to be honest, not on a 600Mhz ppc clone just because it has no cooling fan!)

I also bought my Peg I to run MorphOS, to have a slimline workstation operating system with (almost) no overhead.
I was prepered to devote quite a lot of energy to develope, document and promote this OS.
Linux is promoted, active enhanced and refined by so many others - I use Linux at my x86 box at work, but MorphOS was/is the future...

Well, I will now devote more time to MorphOS. I hope you join in - it is up to us now (more or less at least)
This doesn't mean that Genesi lost interest in MOS, but I think we as a community must drive the development in some way.

2 years ago I bought Pegasos 1 to replace my Amiga PPC. After anouncing the new Pegasos 2 I was wery outstanding "to buy or not to buy" - because the power of Pegasos 1 G3/600 is still enough to run everything in the best quality.

So I am waiting for the MOS 1.5.

I bought my PegII because of MorphOS!!!
Linux was my backup reason if MorphOS was not good enough.
After a year of using it I got in love with this OS.
Linux looks like an OS of 60's with compare of MorphOS.
Linux is superior on the Service Solutions.
But Linux was never meant to be a Desktop replacement of W*ndows.
    MorphOS is!
MorphOS can perform faster than W*ndows and it can be very easilly a Workstation sollution.
..there will be only one left.
