I would like to have one configuration to use mplayer for playing vcd/dvd and files from hdd.
For now I have an script that does vcd-playback and playback of files is started via ambient.

another problem i have is to force mplayer in fullscreen but with e.g. 640x480 not 1024x768, which is not suitable for some videos i have around.
with setting x=640 y=480 i can change windowsize but fullscreendisplay is not affected.
i use mplayer 1.0 Pre 04
what can be done about it?

I make use of the great Devedie by vovka to play DVDs and also video files (it opens up the file requestor for the video files).

It wouldn't launch a VCD with a single button, like it does a DVD. I guess you can use the file requestor to select the mpeg file on the VCD. Maybe vovka would add single button VCD support.

Don't know about your resolution question though.
