I can only burn CDs of 80MB or less.

    Hi folks,

    I finally managed to get MakeCD working. If I increase the buffer size to more than the size of the data, it works.
    Unfortunately, I only have 80MB of RAM free after booting.
    Without buying more RAM, is there a way round this?
    I've tried changing the write speed but it didn't seem to help.

    please enlighten us first what does not work.

    Normaly a buffer of 80MB should be fine. I'm just using 50MB buffer and it's working very well.

    And make sure you're using MorphOS 1.4.2 boot.img with IDE fix (check date of ide.device, must be from 2004!)

    regards,

    @Robert

    If you have a Pegasos I and if you use the Secondary IDE channel, try unplugging any drive from it and try again to burn a CD.

    Do you have MOS 1.4.2 installed?

    Here are my basic MakeCD settings:

    - Speed page
    All at 0, except 10 for audio writing.

    - Buffer page
    All chunks = 50KB, Write tracks/CDs & Create image file = 80000, Play audio = 10000, no checkmark

    - Further settings page
    No checkmarks, Motorola, Block, Ask

    - Hardware compatibility page
    A checkmark to Parallel read/write

    For the Writing Drive I use CDR_SCSI3_ATAPI

    Well, MakeCD sometimes will stop while burning if your medias are really cheap. I suggest you give a try with FryingPan which is more reliable and simpler IMHO, but still MakeCD has a lot of options, if you ever need them.

    Hope it helps,
    Fred

    Do you burn on-the-fly or are you creating/buffering an image on HD first?

    Apparently anything with greater amount of data than is in the buffer.

    @chatdeau:

    I think I'm still on 1.4.0.
    Thanks for the settings, I'll match them to mine.

    I know this sounds incredibly dumb but I don't know. As I've upped the buffer level to 80MB, I guess it must be buffering. However, I thought it was buffering to RAM, since it won't let me increase the buffer size above my available RAM.
