I'm having a difficult time trying to get sound out of Mac-On-Linux (MOL). I'm using the Debian Sarge distribution with Kernel version 2.4.x. By default the sound system is OSS with ALSA disabled. The basic sound works fine in Linux but I can't get the sound to work in MOL (booting to OS 10.3).
I'm using the KDE interface. The sound settings mention that KDE takes exclusive control over the sound driver. I've setup the preferences to release control after 10 seconds of inactivity.
When MOL is started the text output usually says something about the sound rate not supported. Usually the MOL sound doesn't get listed in the output device list on OS 10.
I did copy over the mol.device settings but even when the mol.device shows up in the MAC OS, I still don't get any sound.
I tried to recompile the kernel to remove OSS and use ALSA but the resulting vmlinux file didn't boot.
Can MOL sound work with just the OSS audio driver? What sample frequency do I need to setup in KDE?

    Thanks for any info.
