    Is it possible to have audio out on an SBLive card? I have a Pegasos II with PegXMac 1.3.1 installed. Per the PegXMac author, I need to append the following line to the boot string:

    alsa=via82xx

    I'm assuming the "via" refers to the via chipset used by the PegII's built-in audio. Can I simply replace that word with the correspoonding chipset that my SBLive card uses? Somehow that doesn't sound right (no pun intended).

    Well I dont know about PegXmac, but on my Peg with 2.6.6 kernel and Debian I run OSX Panther in MOL and OS 9.x with sound from my SB LIve!.

    You are correct you must change the via stuff to read

    alsa=emu10k

    IIRC (something like that)

    Good luck

    Makes perfect sense, since I reference emu in MorphOS also. But, will I get better than 22khz sound out of of MOL I wonder.

    Thanks for the info!

    Seems to work pretty good. I added a "1" to the alsa=emu10k you mentioned, however. This on the advice of the pegxmac mailing list.

    Having also achieved a working CD-ROM, I was able to import some audio using iTunes. I chose Apple's lossless format. It plays back nicely.

    One disappointment is that the playback of CD's directly is choppy. Somehow my fast CD drive has been crippled. My rip speed never got higher than 9x, even though I should be at more like twice that.
