I've seen tokai screenshot running a Playstation 2 game
    in Mame 0.82.

I've searched the net but could not find mame 0.82 for MOS.
Could someone please tell me where to find?

And I wonder how I can run Playstation games.
I 've a few games on CD/DVD. Can I play them directly from CD?
Or can I copy the Cd to the harddisk?
Could someone please tell me how this is done?

    many thanks in advance

Mame is a Arcade machine emulator,
and it can only emulate games that
run on arcade machines, such as
    Pacman, donkeykong, 1942, and
    souledge, etc..
There are also a few cool 3D car
    racing games that will work.

There's a site where you can find
    these roms.

    As I see,
I thought that the screen shot would show the playstation 2 version of souledge :)

Still I don't know where to find the 0.82 mame version.
Could anybody please point me to it?

    Cheers

Is this Soul Edge for Namcos Playstation based arcade hardware ( i think System 11 ) that run from under Mame 0.81. This Mame version is available for MOS, and you can dl the romfile from the net, if you found it. The System 11 Emulation in this version is still buggy and slow (on my G4 Pegasos about 50-60% of speed).

To my knowledge there is no Soul Edge for PS2.. did you mean Soul Calibur by any chance? :-)

This is caused by a gcc3 bug unfortunately. A gcc 2.95 version doesn't produce this effect.

I'll release Mame 0.83 in a few days i think.

    Just to be picky:

Soul Edge: PlayStation 1 + Arcade
    Soul Calibur: Dreamcast + Arcade
Soul Caliber II: PS2, GC, XBox + Arcade

    ;)

    But it's not a PS2 title. ;)

It can be found on several sites, i heard of www.playagain.net. maybe you'll have luck. :)

A few things before you get too excited (tm) :

    - soul calibur does not run correctly in mame atm. souledge and many others are ok, though.
    - you probably know that mame is not the fastest emulator out there. So you can imagine that this kind of games require a really hi-specced machine (from our point of view at least) .
For the record, i get ~23-25 fps on souledge on my pegasos2 G4, which is too slow to be really playable. For comparison, on an atlon 1800+, i get ~30-32 fps.
    - sound is not emulated yet in these psx hardware-based games.

In the arcade field, soul edge and soul calibur are two distinct games, soul calibur being more recent.

Pentium III with 1000Mhz using pentium pro
    optimized version of MAME.

    C:\MAME>mamepp.exe souledge
    Average FPS: 1.920446 (189 frames)

    :-) hehehehe

BTW: Soul Calibur is much bigger in MB's then Soul Edge.

You should disable autoframeskip, that's not fair otherwise. :)
With autoframeskip it skips frames until it can reach 100% speed. With this config it can never reach 100%, so frameskip is set to the maximum and it's horribly slow. :)
