At the MorphOS dnetc stats page (http://www.morphos-news.de/guides/rc5-72/dnet-mos-stats.php) we can see that the number of crunched blocks has drastically decreased. Compared to the time before the stats server broke down and today, the stats has *halved*! :-o

I know that the braking down of the stats server made the interest go away for some people, but the stats server is now back up again, so let's get busy! ;-) :-D

New users can find some very easy step-by-step instructions here:
    http://www.morphos-news.de/guides/rc5-72/index.html

... and when you have got it up and running (and waited some 24 hours or so to get your first stats registered on the server) you could post a link to your stats on this page:
    https://morph.zone/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=1491&forum=9&180

So come on people, let's get back to work! Let's save all those poor left-over clock cycles that otherwise would have died without accomplishing anything in their short lives! Let's give them some meaningful existence instead! :-) :-D
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

I'm not 100% sure what this is or how it will help with MOS1.5 like the site says, but I did it and am now crunching stuff.

For development purposes and for trying to find out how much extra heat it produces when the cpu always run at full power. Have to take care for these. :-)

Nah...tons of Mac system updates recently and dnetc client isn't in my Startup Items where it probably should be.

    Will rectifiy ASAP.

I made a custom cooling solution for my G4, a Zalman chipset cooler and a really silent papst fan at really low RPM's just to get some air circulating through the pins. Works *great*; I have had the CPU going at 100% for over 50 days non-stop! :-)

It's about breaking a tough encryption by brute force = trying every possible key out there until the right one is found.

There are also some kind of price money involved, and who knows, perhaps you will be the lucky one? ;-)

aye, well a three month holiday to New Zealand left both my Peg and my PC pi**ed off with me! I come back and first the PC throws a fit and stops working and then the PEG does the same.

I'm still reinstalling missing items. All my TTFfonts screwed over and are needing a complete reinstall - not helped by the crap FTManager program - WHEN are they going to fix that damn thing?????) and little things like C:DNS went walkabout.... :/ It's getting there though ;-)

RC5s been running on both machines for 3 or so weeks now (always used to run it on my A4000/060 so it's nice to be doing it again) but I guess three months worth of dust suddenly decided to burn off :) Gave me a headache did that smell...

Anyway: the PegI G3 comes in at 1,958,182 keys/sec while the PC manages 4,777,393 keys/sec. (x2.44 the speed of the Peg)

Not bad for a G3 compared to an AMD 1700 ;-)

As a comparison to your PC I can mention that the PegasosII G4 with altivec enabled comes in at about 10,600,000 keys/sec. Not bad, huh!

    what?
I get like 3,921,813 keys/sec on my PegII-G4 without Altivec.
    How can I enable it?

    btw on my other systems:
    ------------------------
    P4 2,5GHz 3,340,658 keys/sec
    AMD XP64bit 3200+ 7,572,036 keys/sec
..there will be only one left.

You can't. It's not enabled by Quark in 1.4 and you don't have access to supervisor instructions from ABox. We have to wait for 1.5. I wonder why they haven't given us a 1.4 kernel that enables the damn bit. :(

does it means that running under Debian Linux would run Altivec?

I don't know if the Debian version has AltiVec support, but probably. So yes, it would but you would show up as using Linux/PPC and not MorphOS, so what is the point. ;)
