Timing/slowdown probs in Delitracker/UAEDE

    Another day, another question:

While playing my favorite pt-mods, it occured to me that in delitracker (while using the excellent 14bitgenie) there is every +/- 2 seconds a miniscule slowndown in the replay, resulting in incorrect timing = very annoying. Tried different frequencies, cia/vblank settings, ahi-updates, etc. but still, the problem stays. It seems that tfmx replay is unaffected, so that means the probles lies in the pt-player of delitracker: am i the only one experiencing probs and/or suggestions anyone?

I tried using uaede (beta7) instead, but it seems that the replay it slows down after +/- 1 minute and then "catches up"; it sounds like a processor overload, exept there isn't any!

    please enlighten me,

    Stevo

    Back with an update:

Delitracker works much better with the AHI-noteplayer; still a little slowdown, but bearable :-). It means that de 14bitgenie is not functioning too well with a pegasos/mos, but I am still wondering if I am the only to find this problem.

    UAEDE problem remains.

Last try to see if anyone can help me out here, or I'll have resurrect my A1200 :-P

Come on people, do I really have a haunted Peg1? Or do I hear things no-one else can hear (brrr, scary ;-) )

Thanx brotheris, I'll take a look.

Still, timing/slowdown problem stays a mystery...and I would really like to use the 14bitgenie :-(

    hi
just to let you know : i encountered the same problem some months ago. you can try changing the timing in the protracker player from vblank to cia which helped for me :)
i also wrote a little mail to chris hodges, the creator of the 14bit genie, who actually wrote poseidon, too! perhaps if some people point out there interest in a good player genie, he dares a second look into his old sources. . .

    kind regards

    I am not alone! :-P

Thanx for your suggestion Pippi, though I already tried changing the cia/vblank setting without any luck. Ah well, I'll try it again ;-) Emailing Chris Hodges is a good idea, but i am afraid he's much too busy to be bothered with (re)coding his genie. Maybe he's willing to share his sources with someone who can take over that work?

This is "normal". The DeliMixer stuff runs asynchronously so there's a small pause when the AHI buffer starts (or something like that.. Chris knows). So yes.. the funny thing is that some people don't notice it while others do. On the other hand, UADE pretty much gives perfect output here and is the best replayer so far. I noticed some syncing problems if you run some cpu intensive task with a higher priority though.

    Aha, I knew it :)

Thank you very much for the explanation Zapek; nice to have that one finally solved. But tell me, what version of UADE do you use?

Remember that some "synchronization problems" might be due to the player used in original game/demo...

There were many available, and some had timing slightly different from each other, resulting in drum loops skipping if played on "wrong player"

    Yeah, I recall ;-).

Still, I think that the problem indeed lies in the ahi-replay of the 14bit genie, like Zapek said. I wonder why the AHI-Noteplayer doesn't seem to have that problem though.
