I did also try the IOS client. that seems to use .m3u8 streams ?
Just did another test , put the iBook G4 on powersupply and used Ethernet only to get better network speeds than 802.11g.
Then YT.REXX asks me the quality.
if I pick 5. MP4 720P HLS, Mplayer 1.5 will start playing but the audio is out of sync with the video.
if I pick 14. WebM 720P VP9 HLS , I only get audio playing, there is not even a visible Mplayer window (although I can find it in the running Tasks)
Choosing Save or Save/Play instead of Play in the Settings, immediately gives me a notification that Test.AVI has been downloaded but when I click open folder nothing happens.
Also checked if it was saved on the T directory but no Test.AVI to be found.
Selecting 4. MP4 480P HLS, Mplayer 1.5 is capable of keeping audio+video in sync .
I am not complaining here but when I download the lowest 720P version of a Youtube video using yt-dlp on a modern machine, I am able to play that downloaded video back on the iBook G4 using Mplayer 1.5 without any audio/video sync issues.
So I guess my questions boil down to
can I get YT.cfg setup that it always uses IOS + select MP4 HLS either 480P/720P
how can I use the save function to download the MP4 HLS 720P version or these formats
