GrafX use SDL_WINDOW_FULLSCREEN so it has nothing to do with your slowdown problem.
Hard to say where problem is.
I can send you SDL1 version if you want. (i test it and no problem with b key)
IMac G5 2.1,PowerBook G4 1.5,MacMini 1.5, PowerMac G5 2.7 died !!!
