For regular Forwarding, Iris extracts the text of html emails, it does not even attempt to retain formatting. If you want to retain the formatting, your best option is to use 'Forward as Attachment'.
When replying, you have an option to keep original HTML (if present).
But I *really* can't do much to help you without examples (screenshots and actual mails that cause problems).
