    Hi,

I want to try out OpenBSD on my Peg, but I can't get past the first hurdle. I burned the CD, and pop it in the drive

    I type

    boot cd:OFWBOOT 3.4/pegasos/bsd.rd

as instructed, and I get the error

    bootimage is of unknown format

Anyone know what the problem is?

    Cheers

    Try:
    boot /pci/cd OFWBOOT 3.4/pegasos/bsd.rd

    UPDATE:

Got OpenBSD installed, but it won't boot, it's trying to use wd1a as the root partition, even though I repeatedly told it to use wd0a, I type in wd0a, it panics and crashes.

Your suggestion led me to try something else

    boot /pci/ide/cd ofwboot

then it asks for the path

    so I type

    3.4/pegasos/bsd.rd

    and it boots!

Of course, that's not the end of the story, it appears to install OK, then won't boot, I think my HD is f**ked, as 'disklabel' and 'fdisk' report different partions on the disk. I need to find a way to wipe the disk properly.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, I think I was a bit confused about the OpenFirmware error, it suggested the file was corrupted, but I think it just couldn't find it.

    Cheers

If you got PC (with Win), you could use that to wipe the HD ;)

    Or maybe Linux-fdisk.
