    I didn't have a computer at home. I wanted to use Linux at home, but didn't want to fall in the temptation of installing Windows in my computer :-P

    Then I discovered the Pegasos, read about Cool Computing (I hate noise), and also, as an old Amiga user, wanted to try MorphOS.

    Anyway, I knew I couldn't use it in a regular basis, since I need Java and a proper Japanese input method.

    So basically, if you tell me there is no MorphOS, but u can install OS4 in Peg, I would be equally happy ;-)

    Thanx mate but it's not the right question in this poll.

    Question is: Why did you buy the Pegasos?

    [] To be able to run MorphOS
    [] To be able to run Linux
    [] I thought it was a Mac
    [] I got if for free!
    [] I don't know
    [] What?

    I've just ordered my Pegasos II today!

    I had (and actually still have) an old Pentium II 350 (overclocked to 392) with 64 Mb recently upgraded to 192, a 6 Gb HD and a Millenium G200 8 Mb for something like 7 years...

    So you can easily point out that buying a Pegasos is also a huge performance upgrade to me!

    I didn't care about the "mess" about MorphOS development because I've already been in something similar with BeOS (which I'm still running and I will miss very much...). I'm sure everything will come to a solution or at least a good compromise that will make the community happy again.

    I wanted a Pegasos mainly to take a "restyled" look of what the Amiga world was (the Amiga 500 was the first computer I saw and Workbench 1.3 the first OS...), by the means of MorphOS, but I'm sure I will also install Linux (browsing...) and I'm looking forward to run Haiku (BeOS), someday...

    My Pegasos setup will be this:

    PegasosII G4 1Ghz
    Antec ARIA case
    Sony Trintron Multiscan E230 17"
    Ram 512 DDR
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80 Gb
    Creative Sound Blaster Live! Player 1024
    Creative Soundworks Four Point Surround
    ATI Radeon 9200SE
    Scheda TV Terratec TV Value
    DVD+/-RW 16X IDE Lite-ON DUAL LAYER
    Modem-Router ADSL Ericsson hm220
    SuperBundle (!!)

    Display, sound card, speakers from my old pc.

    As you can see, my setup is not so cheap and I'm really counting on Genesi...

    I got my Pegasos II by selling of my Amiga 3000 with PPC and a Mediator because I wanted a more modern and Native PPC Amiga like os. That was and still is MorphOS to me. I wouldnt use anything else on it if MorphOS was still updated. Now if it does fail and they decide to bring OS4 to the Pegasos I guess I would have to go that route a much as I would hate to do so. I just refuse to run linux om my Pegasos. I hate Linux when I can run Mac OSX on my real Macs.

    I got a Pegasos 99 percent for MOS. I've run Linux on it and it was a very acceptable experience, but MOS is really where it was at for me. If it had a decent email and web browser, then I'd buy Papyrus for the word doc support, and retire my aging PCI powermac :-)

    But, as long as I don't have to run Windows, its all good ;-)

    Count me in as another MOS supporter!

    PegasosI G3@600MHz
    128MB RAM
    Radeon 7500 64MB AGP w/TV OUT and DVI
    Symbios SCSI card
    Sony DVD/CD ROM
    40GB Hitachi Deskstar
    No-name Micro-ATX specific case (it has a blue light on the front ;-)

    yep, bought my Peg1 in order to run MOS, was sick and tired of waiting for OS4 to arrive for my A1. When OS4 finally came i thought that I would get the pleasure of seeing both systems evolve side by side, looks dark now though. I really hope I'm wrong because I really like MOS and think that it would be a great loss for the amiga community if the development stopped now.

    Two hands up, actually.
    I've got a PegasosII G4, with a Radeon 7000 64MB DDR, 512 MB DDR RAM, 120GB HD, DVD, CDRW, and a PegasosI G3 April2 fix with a Voodoo 3 3000 16MB and 256MB SDRAM and some other pieces as well...
    Both run MorphOS only ATM.

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

    When I bought the Pegasos1 it was for the MorphOS, but back then there wasn't anything else you could run on the boards.

    When I bought my Pegasos2 (no this ain't an upgrade, but a second peggy), I bought it to run linux on.

    If I get my Pegasos1 to be upgraded, then it too will be a linux box (would have liked to run QNX, but I guess I never get that kind of extra money).

    Hello,

    I first bought this year my Pegasos 2 for Morphos to replace my amiga which gave me less satisfaction tha in the pass. For a 2 or 3 months i considered to try Linux but i will reconsider this possibility because Morphos gives many which i do not have explored for the moment but i will persevere in its exploration.

    My machine :

    Pegasos 2 G4, 256 Mo memory ddr 400, hard drives 40 Go Seagate and 10 Go Fujitsu, dvd drive Samsung, cd burner Samsung, floppy disk but whithout Catweasel for the moment, internal cards reader Sweex, optical mouse Sweex, slim keyboard (name ?), crt screen 17" Relisys, printer Epson Stylus Color C60 and 56k modem US Robotics Professionnal Message Modem.

    /me puts both hands up!

    Peg 1 G3 (hopefully after XMas I'll get a PegII/G4 as upgrade)
    512MB RAM
    atm 80GB HD - but getting a 120GB in the next 2 or 3 days so currnt setup can go on that then I'll try a linux distro onto this HD (with the duff part blocked off as the MEDIA: partition is failing).
    Radeon 7000 agp 64MB
    Basic CD-rom (PC better for writing dvds/cds)
    Normal Case, though I want a micro-case but only the Aria looks any good but everyone has those now so I want something different!!!!

    Ive just installed one of these http://www.quietpc.com/uk/psu.php#zalman so now my Pegasos is whisper quiet! ;-)

    Lovely!

    I bought my PegII for MorphOS only.
    I hope we'll see new releases of MOS in future. And i think, the
    Forth interpreter, that currently under developing, will be my "two
    cents" for MOS.

    My machine is:
    Pegasos II, G4@1GHz;
    Radeon 9000pro, 64 MB;
    RAM 1GB, but only 512MB available;
    HDD 200GB, TOSHIBA DVD-reader/CD-RW;
    and MorphOS, of course.
