Unfortunately I'm having some trouble with 1.18. It alwas meditates on startup. It loads the page (about:), but before displaying anything it freezes.

My guess is you're using a version of the plugin for cairo.library. Please redownload swfdec 1.2 from my website.
1.18 and swfdec work as well/bad as before (as well as swfdec can work, that is).

It does if you tell it to: preferences -> privacy -> save form credentials, save cookies, save whatever you want. :)

Go in OWB directory, in conf/font/, and overwrite fonts.conf with the one from the archive. Also delete *.cache files there.

    You mean Grunch, right? :-)

    > is there a cleaner way to upgrade OWB ?

I prefer upgrading manually using a file manager, which is how I upgraded to OWB 1.18. Whether that's usually regarded as a clean way I don't know and don't care :-)

It doesn't "hang", it quits, because it can't find expat.library, which is normal, since it's only supplied since morphos 3.0

Would this help to run it? http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/expat-morphos

PS: I tested Oddisey 1.16 on MorphOS 1.4.5 PowerUp and it ran correctly, in contrast Oddisey 1.18 didn't open (I didn't investigate why)

1.18 needs morphos 3.1+ expat.library, no other implementations. And 1.16/1.17 didn't require it.

so 1.17 is the latest one that could work with 1.4.5? I have Aminet's random.library (I don't know what it is useful for, it seems to require a RANDOM: assign) and a homebrew expat.library compiled using SDK3.2 headers but last OWB I can make work on MorphOS 1.4.5 is 1.16. Not bad for a classic but I'm curious about why 1.17 doesn't work. I noticed that OWB looks for charset.library although IIRC it wasn't really required on 1.4.5 and there's some MCC it can't find. Maybe it's the MUI4 version I'm using, anyone knows which one is latest alpha/beta for 1.4.5?

BTW, good job!, 1.18 works great on my Mini.

This may be useful to some, it certainly is for me:

    HTML5 Streetview

Far better than the previous one I was using (viewstreetnoflash), on this one you can switch from google maps to streetview just as with the Flash version.

I think it's the one linked there:

Funny. your page actually works here. Even though it's mainly a page with a big flash (youtube) element in the middle. Of course it's uberslow and a big buggy compared to the HTML5 embedded element they could have used instead, but still.

    Can anyone else test?

Well, 1.17 might have been linked against other shared libraries from 2.x/3.x, i don't exactly remember. What's sure is i added expat.library to those for 1.18.
But in theory, with the adequate link line, nothing would prevent further owb versions from working on 1.4.5, but the interest is somewhat limited, i'd say.

System freeze here on that page when plugins are enabled. Just md5sum'ed the swfdec plugin to confirm that it is swfdec 1.2 from your site.

PS - with all the new config options (local storage, etc) is it worth creating a config dump command so that error reports can include all this info?

Flash plugin works nicely here. I'd suggest you extract owb 1.18 and swfdec 1.2 (from my website) to a fresh new dir and see again what happens.

    Hi Fab,

Just re-downloaded OWB 1.18 and the flash plugin & extracted to a fresh directory on an SFS partition.
    Exactly the same: total freeze.

The only configuration change I made from default was to enable plugins.

(I've also just checked to make sure that I haven't set a version string for flash in env: .)

EDIT: This is on Powerbook. Just a thought, but swfdec doesn't rely on any 3d functions does it?

Well, it gives this lockup only for this page or for anything in Flash?

The only thing i could think about would be swfdec dies if it can't find some fonts (which would be weird, but anyway), but apart from that...
Did you download WebCore fonts, just in case?

    Hi Fab,

Many Flash things work ok (can't think of any particular pages off the top of my head, as I usually have plugins disabled by default).

Just tried deleting existing font caches, commenting out the mossys:fonts/_ttf line from fonts.conf, downloaded webcore fonts with your script, restarted & rebuilt cache.

No change I'm afraid (and that was using the fresh installation of OWB).

NB - Just tested on Mac-mini with the same result.

Interesting. On a fresh installation of MorphOS 3.1 it works fine (and everything feels a lot snappier, but I suspect that's down to my MUI prefs)

At the risk of corrupting my old sys: partition (again) I'll try running snoopium to figure out where exactly it is failing. It may be that an installed program has 'updated' some required library or something...

Give me a while to test & figure out.

I'll make a list of all the MUI libraries needed by OWB and see what versions I am running.
I know I have updated quite a few for the sake of other apps.

MUI just need the libaries included with the system. If something fails for you, then you broke something, when installing old/wrong stuff.

Best thing is using Grunch to install libraries and classes. It will also take care all required classes are installed and will install them along with the application and it will also ensure a proper deinstallation if you with. Also all OWB related scripts will keped up to date, so you will never experience any "YouTube does not work anymore" problems, as you get informed as soon as fab did an update.

Installation of e.g. the frequently updated OpenURL is a very bad idea even if it is a MorphOS PPC version, as it is useles for any MorphOS 2.x and newer OS version and the included version is working perfect.
