I just came across this posting of yours:

    http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32700&forum=28#588412

There you say it's on Youtube. Thus I conclude it must be MP4/H264. It's really hard for me to believe you have only 40% CPU load on this with your 1.0 GHz G4. So may I once more ask you to provide a link to that specific video so that others can compare?

This is the 3rd time you have asked me this. Dont really be a bot man. Look, i'm in San Fransico all week until Friday. When I get back to my studio I'll fire up the peg and report it...

Look, It was late at night, I just installed owb 1.11 and was testing youtube.. I went to a doc on Ancient Aliens and could have sworn I chose 720p "hd" mode on youtube.. maybe it was 480p hd? dont know take it easy and i'll report back. Note I said 40% cpu but I really couldnt move the mouse at all or the vid would almost freeze... from what I remember..

No, count again. It's only the 2nd time I asked you for the link to that video. And the reasons for asking a 2nd time have been that you ignored my question the 1st time and that I stumbled upon your amigaworld.net message containing some information you (despite me asking for it) omitted here (i.e. that it was on Youtube).

    > Dont really be a bot man.

It's rather you who seem to have become a bot, programmed to call me a bot all along against all sanity and regardless of the specific situation :-P

    > When I get back to my studio I'll fire up the peg and report it

I don't think you need your Pegasos to post the link to that History Channel video ;-)

    > maybe it was 480p hd?

    480p wouldn't be HD.

    > i'll report back.

    Looking forward to it.

    > I said 40% cpu but I really couldnt move the mouse at all or the
    > vid would almost freeze

Sounds really strange, and thus would be in perfect line with a 1.0 GHz G4 being able to play H264 at 720p in realtime ;-)

It is faster - even the emo icons on the left to use in this post are there a lot quicker. Nice it takes away some frustration.

It feels more like the os - fast.

Noticed still a few issues. (like in google after long working time, I get where it should read like "images" I get only some blocks.

But hey, it's moving ahead !

I guess he doesn't - maybe it's this one? Switched to 720p and fullscreen - CPU load on my Mini 1.5 GHz varied from 16 to 40%. But the video doesn't look like HD quality. Besides, here's a real 720p video that gives my G4 really hard time (CPU usage rarely below 100%, sound stuttering sometimes).

Really strange. As expected, that video takes 100% CPU on my Mac mini 1.5 GHz in fullwindow mode (with YouTube_Fullscreen_Fix.js) and just cannot be played in realtime (at least not without using Fab's hint). Your figures I get at 360p resolution. What are your figures at 360p?

    Maybe because you suck? :-P

Like I told you before (apparently you werent reading my post properly so I will state it again) I am on a business trip in San Fransico when I get back to my studio in LA I will elaborate more.

Now, just because I defended Amigadave to you now you want to challenge all my posts. Rest assured Andreas that i'm not a 16yr old kid and any post I make is based in reality. I stated in the other thread I could be wrong, but we will see soon enough.

I'm wondering if its my gfx card making a diff as I theoritically have the fastest possible radeon 9000pro (its actually a Radeon Pro 2 very limited edition) with 128mb ram and in overlay mode it works better than the mac mini you have?

or I could be completely wrong.. anyway its not like we are saving peoples lives its just benchmarks so take it easy!

What question or statement of mine is that referring to?

    > Like I told you before (apparently you werent reading my post properly
    > so I will state it again) I am on a business trip in San Fransico

It seems I read your posting way more properly than you were thinking about when you wrote it. Again: I don't think you need your Pegasos to post the link to that History Channel video. An Internet connection with Youtube access would suffice. At least the former you have, as proven by your messages.

    > just because I defended Amigadave to you now you want to challenge all my posts.

Sounds like some kind of persecution complex to me. I'm challenging your statement of being able to view Youtube video at 720p with 40% CPU load on a 1.0 GHz G4. This has nothing to do with amigadave at all but only with your statement as such and my not so good experience at trying to view H264 videos at 720p on my 1.5 GHz G4 so far.

    > any post I make is based in reality.

As far as I can see, H264 at 720p with 40% workload on a 1.0 GHz G4 is far from reality. Even 100% of a 1.0 GHz G4 would be way too little.

    > I stated in the other thread I could be wrong

    What other thread? Link please.

    > I'm wondering if its my gfx card making a diff as I theoritically have the fastest
    > possible radeon 9000pro (its actually a Radeon Pro 2 very limited edition) with
    > 128mb ram and in overlay mode it works better than the mac mini you have?

I doubt that. An overstrained gfx card wouldn't result in the CPU being loaded 275+% more for the same task. On MorphOS the heavy decoding work is really only done by the CPU.

    > or I could be completely wrong

    We'll see.

    > its not like we are saving peoples lives

Yes, if that was the premise we could instantly close MorphZone and all Amiga related sites altogether ;-)

This is exactly the egotistical attitude you have that comes out. Listen and listen good before you really piss me off. I DONT KNOW WHAT #&@*@#^&!@ VIDEO I WATCHED . I HAVE TO CHECK MY BROWSER HISTORY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF ANCIENT ALIEN VIDS ON YOUTUBE.

I still see this as a technical debate. Okay, pretty incandescent, but technical. Amigans are like that!

I guess he mainly referred to that chart:

in another note, owb 1.11 got a 869 points score on peacekeeper, while Safari 5 got a 1130 score under macos x running at the same MDD dual g4@1.5ghz. It' amazing how Safari is only faster by 30% considering it sports a JIT JS engine (correct me if I am wrong on this) and it uses both available cpus instead of just 1 like OWB does (as morphos itself utilizes only 1 cpu). A Testament to Fab's excellent work!

    edit:
    sunspider results (lower is better)
    OWB: 4265
    Safari: 4922

Awesome JS performance for OWB beating Safari on the same machine! Has OWB incorporated the latest webkit JS JIT engineas well? Or maybe this is just for x86 and neither Safari or OWB have one? I'm a bit confused on that. In any case, OWB with 1 cpu soundly defeated Safari on 2 cpus!

AFAIK Nitro is not available for PPC.

    Yes.
