    xyphoid,

    mplayer isn't smart enough to parse a "complex" web page and extract an embedded movie. Anyway, after checking that page, the actual link is : http://www.pbs.org/media/kids/superwhy/SWHY_101_three_little_pigs_320.mov

    It can be streamed, but it's not the most efficient way to see it here. At least, i didn't get enough bandwidth speed to play it without stops. So just downloading it is a better option. :)

    (According to its size and length, you require a constant 47kB/s download speed to view it correctly, which i barely reached)

    On the GUI: if possible, I'd like an option to save audio streams (raw). I know you can set pcm as output @ ahi prefs, but a more transparent option would be nice :)

    Btw, with new integrated gui/overlay mode, movies tend to have a small lag/buffer hickup (lacking a better way to put it) when playing them or skipping through.

    Xyphoid,

    you can just use wget. Very handy for that kind of things.

    Stevo,

    I'm not sure dumping audio or video stream while playing is possible actually (without changing internals). But i'll check.

    About some lag/hickups, if this is what i think it is, it's not really specific to the integrated mode, but rather the way a movie is stopped and played again for the next entry in playlist. I think mplayer lacks some reinitialization at some point there when being in gui mode. I'll try to figure that out. But to be clear, does it only happen when playing a new file (dnd, playlist, whatever) while another is already being played?

    Thanx for checking, both saving of streams and the hickups.

    The hickups indeed occur when loading a new file when another one is still being played. That said, I had a few simpsons episodes that had those hickups while moving through the movie (using the timeslider or the arrow keys). But I deleted them this morning, so can't check now :-P

    Hey Fab, I think there's one small glitch in the GUI-version MPlayer...

    When in Playlist mode, the player sometimes jumps not to the next file, but next+1; it looks like it loads the correct video (the progress bar appears for a moment) and then immediately jumps to the next. There is no problem with the file-format whatsoever, because manual selection of this particular file from the playlist works OK.

    Can you look into this issue? Thanks.

    Hi Fab thanks for the update to GMPlayer. But i have a Problem with the new shuffel option in the Playlist. It seams that the sound isn't syncron when playing videos from playlist but not the first video. I have a playlist with a couple of music videos and after 3-4 videos the sound begins to get asyncron. Maybe it has something to do with the hickup that you have fixed or the audio buffer.

    Hi Fab, I just downloaded the fresh version! Thanks again for doing the brilliant work!

    Drag'n'drop Directories was one function I was missing a lot - man, you read my mind :-) I didn't even mention it at all, and bang - new version and it has this feature! NICE!!! And it supports subdirectories as well... simply great.

    BTW. How powerful the CPU has to be to play a MPEG4 file? I tried to play couple of them on my Efika and it just froze (the sound was playing alright for the first minute though)..

    The info on that particular file:

    Format - lavfpref
    Video Codec - ffh264
    Video Bitrate - 0 (?)
    Resolution - 450x360 (saved straight from YouTube, using fmt=18 option)
    Frames per second - 29.97
    Aspect - 0.00
    Audio Codec - faad
    Audio Bitrate - 128 kbps
    Audio Samples - 44 kHz, stereo

    @ThePlayer,

    Well, it's very likely totally unrelated to shuffle option in any case. :)
    Audio buffer was increased a bit to face concurrent system load. But here, it doesn't seem to affect synchronisation in any file i could test. If you have some meaningful samples, feel free to upload. :)

    @Skipp

    MPEG4 is just a container. In your case, it's a h264 codec, which is very cpu-intensive, especially for an efika. You might use -lavdopts skiploopfilter=all to help a bit, but it might still be a bit short. And when you mean "froze", you just mean playback stalled, right? Not that it actually crashed or something? :)

    Nothing crashed. In fact, I never experienced a crash of MPlayer yet. So it's just my Efika that's too slow...

    ThePlayer,
    You can load a playlist from the add... button. You can also just drop it to the playlist or main window.

    Skipp,

    Try this -lavdopts skiploopfilter=all, it can sometimes make enough difference between unreadable and acceptable. :)

    Playlists don't have any particular header or anything, so the only way to detect them properly is with the file extension. So just make sure your playlist has .pls/m3u extension. Only in that case, it will be processed as a playlist.

    I have created 3 playlists with GMPlayer they end all with .pls but it dosen't work to load them with drag'n drop or to load them wit the add button from playlist Manager.

    Thanks, I think I tried that with commandline mplayer, but what about GUI-version? Is there a way of adding an icon tooltype? I'm asking, because I use icon-launched GMPlayer and I couldn't find this option in the menu...

    Works here, too.

    I created a >500 KB playlist with mplayer which I loaded at least 3 times. It takes some times to load it. Especially on Efika and I first though it was crashed, as there is no progress bar for loading. After a small while it resized gui and worked like a charm even in shuffle mode.

    I only must admit that the list itself contains gifs, jpegs and probably m3u and pls files as I used the import directory as playlist feature.

    @Skipp,

    MPlayer has hundreds (and i really mean it) options, so they can't all be in that GUI. :)
    But you can just add it to conf/config file. Just add: lavdopts=skiploopfilter=all
    Or if you run from shell, gmplayer -lavdopts skiploopfilter=all <file>
