Considering the cost of a used mac (I myself have been _GIVEN_ 4 of them) I can't understand why people are so insistent upon BootX.

It's a nice little idea, and a cool proof of concept, but beyond that everyone, and I do mean everyone, will be completely dissapointed in the performance and will whinge for months and months that it's not as good as it could be, etc.

If you want osX go get a machine it's designed to run on. You'll get a bonus - SUPPORT. Which you will NEVER get from Apple on a pegasos.

So, I'm going to chime in and say "please, work on everything BUT bootX." I don't WANT osX on my Pegasos. I have it on my macs.

I am very happy for you. Can you please send me one of these 4 used macs you have ? So i won't have to bug Sonic anymore with BootX ?
send me a PM and i'll send you my address.

how can you advice people to buy a used mac when you haven't paid any of yours ? lol

    Yeah funny guy!
Why should i buy a Mac if i could use BootX.
I would save money and space on my desk!
    And i don't won't to spend another 350 - 400 Euro for a 1Ghz G4 PowerMac.
If i could do it with my G4 Pegasos.

its good for those who are living in a castle, but i have only one room with 2 computers and 3 consoles inside (and i want to rebulid my amiga tower again:) - i dont have any other space for another machine, + one more computer takes more power, more noise, more pain in the ass. i wanna use one and only one computer, not three at the same time....
its much better to use one machine with different oses installed than have different machines for every different oses - unless you have 2-3-4 rooms dedicated to computers in your hous. then go for it.

so stop this "buy i mac if you want osx", coz its stupid (my bad..) idea, and i dont want to feed apple (nor m$) with my money.

    uff.:)

Even though it seems "proper" here to bash Truck for what he said, I strongly agree.

    just keep it going!

    1. It allows you to read Joliet CDs where file names are written using national characters. This relates to countries where national encoding differs from Latin-1. Such CDs are very common here, in Russia, PC users like naming their stuff in russian. Also MP3 music CDs often have russian file names.
    2. It allows you to read MacHFS (not HFSPlus) CDs. Can be useful if you deal with classic Macs.

To make BootX running on Pegasos-1 two things are required:
    1. Add recognition of Peg-1 firmware version.
    2. Fix direct hardware VGA graphics mode driver. Currently it fails, i don't know why.

thanx for your great work and support for mos!

    Hi,
I have problem with MOSNet stack working with DHCP server.
After start stack MOSNet give and set settings like that:
    IP: 10.20.33.221
    Mask: 255.255.255.255
    Gateway: 10.20.32.1
and can't use any www-browser or any other apps.
When I change mask to: 255.255.240.0 - it's work fine.
On my PC network work with 1-st and 2-nd mask settings.
    (It's wifi based network)
    Ps.
Others amiga's tcp/ip stack (like miami, genesis) dosen't work too... :(

Looks like badly configured provider (wifi isn't point-to-point anyway), however, okay, i put this into wishlist.

    New unofficial Assign command. :-)
    https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=133480&package_id=147287&release_id=538451
It a little better deals with DISMOUNT option, sends ACTION_DIE to the handler allowing it to shutdown completely.
This version guarantees also device node removal (previous versions suggested that it's handler's job if ACTION_DIE was succesfully processed).
