    @ CountRaven:

you dont have to copy the codecs dir. from frogger to mplayer, in fact it is pointless. mplayer uses its own codecs which are hardcoded in the program (as i know).
you can remove the froggercodecs from mplayer.
there are several versions of mplyer out there for morphos (and for os4 which can be used on mos with os4emu i guess), try them all:))

theres no media palyer with fancy gui on morphos.
but theres some basic gui for mplyer. i currently use a mui one with stop/start/etc buttons, draggable slider and volume slider - just forgot the name right now. will check it for you.

mplayer is the best mediaplayer right now on morphos. maybe some day we can run dvplayer (for os4) too.

"MPlayer does NOT have a scroll / control bar with the play
/ pause / fwd buttons on it -or is it just my version-?"

You have them in your mouse/keyboard :P. For movies i preffer MPlayer0.91. Dunno what exactly, but sth is wrong with MPlayer1.0 (even with some 0.91 releases), it has NO smooth playback. So, better use 0.91 if you can :-). Oldest (imho the best available ;-) ) 0.91 version is available from morph.zone, a bit newer 0.91 (to use with devedie gui with control bar etc. afaik it doesn't work with 1.0) by amirus is also here (when it comes to play DVD amiurs version suxx, it's a KaczusBB opinion because i don't have a DVD in my PegII :-) ).

As previously said, MPlayer is controlled by mouse (use wheel to seek back and forth) and keyboard (cursor keys and many others, defined in conf/input.conf). The arexx port also allows some external GUI to control it with a slider or whatever.

About 0.91 smoothness, i just tried on a few files (some panoramic scrolls) and can't really see a real difference, except that 0.91 doesn't have multibuffered display in overlay mode (which causes tearing and osd flicking). 0.91 is also much slower for some codecs (that were improved in ffmpeg since). One thing that sucks in 1.0 releases is the somewhat more laggy seek function.

About dvplayer, i already tried it with os4emu, and even if it has a skin+slider, it was noticeably slower and didn't read many formats (and i don't think slowness could be attributed the the very low os4emu overhead).

"About dvplayer, i already tried it with os4emu"

with which version of os4emu? my last info on this topic was that dvplayer isnt usable with the latest public os4emu, but with newer developer versions it is able to play and show videos.

it has fewer codecs than mplyer but those os4 folks like it better. (dunno why, maybe because of the cool skins?:)

anyway its funny to me that the only modern videoplayers on amiga-like systems are all by hungarian devs:))

    Saddam,
they like dvplayer better, because it has a gui and mplayer for os4 is not very stable nor fast and doesn't work in overlay modes (or only some of them on some cards depending on the moon phase). Native video (cgx_overlay, p96_whatever, cgx_wpa,..) & audio (ahi_*) mplayer drivers are buggy and it's even recommanded to use sdl ones instead (which doesn't help speed-wise). But you can try it in os4emu and see yourself anyway. :)

    Hello,

Two years ago a friend gave me a cd with a movie encoded in realvideo 9 format. I tried to look it with current versions of mplayer in 2005, 0.91 and 1pre04, without success. Is now mplayer 1.0rc2-2.95.4 able to play realvideo movies or not ?
