I think the last E-UAE update was in 2007 or 2008.

Do you think there will be a new and improved version?

    Improvements i can suggest:

Better speed (Some games slow down on my 466Mhz G4)
    A nice front-end (like Winuae)
Power Mac G4 1Ghz (Sonnet Encore) 640Mb, ATi Radeon 9000 Pro, USB 2.0
OS: MorphOS 2.6 (Registered) , Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11

I would very much like this, and I think new (average) users would like this also. Especially a gui, as it is now it really puts me off.

Contact R. Drummond, make a bounty for it .... whatever.

And can we nag about the PPC-JIT again ?

Its these things which will convince me even more to register MorphOS.

I just sold my Amiga 4000 with 060 and Picasso IV to make space for my MorphOS machine and i will be even more convinced once i know i can use UAE at a full speed and with a nice GUI.

Well the JIT is probably never going to happen I am afraid. But a NICe Gui can't be that hard ?

    Yes, 2008.

PUAE tries to continue where E-UAE left off:

Also someone has written a GUI for OS4 E-UAE ... maybe he can be persuaded to do the same for MorphOS ? http://www.amigabounty.net/?function=viewproject&projectid=40

That would be like MorphOS Team members writing OS4 software ;-)

Asking doesn't cost money. Davy Wentzler also did something for MorphOS while he did a lot for OS4.

In Belgium they say: A "NO" you have ... a "YES" you can have.

In other words: You always have a no if you don't ask.

Didn't try myself but seems to work according to:

    https://morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4550&forum=9&post_id=42853#42853

And that's not surprising considering it's a MorphOS native program ;-)

But that was with MorphOS 1.x ... I just try it and nothing much seems to happen. Hm ...seems to need some muilibs.

I think a rather simple but uasable launcher-GUI is easily doable with Hollywood. The launcher just need to collect a little data and create a config file which is passed to UAE. Doesn't sound like rocket science to me. Maybe I try my luck with that once my current project reaches a usable state (for which I need a few more days still). I think I will look into that next week.

Double-clicking a game without any GUI in the way still looks more seamlessly integrated to me. And it can be done in a couple seconds, if one reads the relevant readme. :)

I have seen that relevant readme ... but if I understood it well, you first have to get a working config not ?

Back in the days I used my AMiga for gaming, Final Writer and some pointless fiddling with the OS or whatever was on the covercds from Amiga Magazine.... and that was 14 years ago. I hope you can imagine that what seems easy and selfexplaining to people that never stopped Amigacomputing on a daily basis... is not so easy and selfexplaining for others.

Correct, but the configs are already supplied. See conf/ directory. 3 presets for the most common use cases. To use them, it's just a matter of typing: uae -f <path:to/config file>

What about buttons that are linked to AREXX scripts to launch the configs? Like an icon of an a500, 1200, etc

The best way is still to add actions to x-adf filetype. Then you can just click the damn adf and run the game "transparently"(or use contextmenu to select between A500 and A1200 preset).

An additional rexx script written by GDanko can take care of retrieving all the needed disk files, to avoid inserting the other disks at runtime. Since i don't find the relevant thread anymore, it's available at http://fabportnawak.free.fr/uae.rexx
And you call it that way: rx path:to/uae.rexx "path:to/somegame (Disk 1 of 50000).adf"
In ambient mimetype action, that would be: rx path:to/uae.rexx %sp

That's it. But there were two typos in there: "single disk" instead of "single_disk" and a missing end towards the end. So better use the link i gave anyway. ;)
