Is there any uptodate software which is capable of running any recent IM services?

- Jabberwocky is pretty outdated. All the jabber servers i found require secured connection, which is not supported by Jabberwocky

- KwaKwa has a Jabber plugin, but won't connect to facebook. Probably because of the same issue as Jabberwocky.

Whats left? I dont want to use bitlbee for IM. I'd like to have a nice IM client running on my MorphOS machine. So is there any other way to get connected? Web solution are not of interest. OWB is slow and memory hungry in that regard and not really a desktop solution.

What i really need is Jabber/XMPP support to use facebook chat.

ok after 3 hours i finally found a way to get facebook compatibility with Jabberwocky/KwaKwa.

1. create an account on jabber.org.by
2. Start Jabberwocky and login.
3. Then go to roster and register for facebook transport. right after that all your accounts will be loaded into the userlist. Problem here: it will only show the UserID of facebook without any name or other references.
4. then start KwaKwa and enter jabber server/username + password into prefs
5. The same userlist will appear, but now you can right click on every user and select "edit contact". Now you can do "Fetch from Network". The corresponding username + profile picture will be loaded.

I dont know if its possible to register facebook transport on the jabber server with KwaKwa, so maybe jabberwocky is completely unneccesary.

you have to install the jabber module in KwaKwa of course.

Facebook Is Dumb.

Here it works with jabber.freenet.de.

I created my account there with Jabberwocky about a decade ago. It was possible to register the account just as described in the Jabberwocky.guide.

So they seem to have changed something. You should be able to register the account with any other popular Jabber/XMPP client, though.

Jabber.fi dropped SSLv3 support in December and now only supports TLSv1.2 encryption.
Adium on Tiger doesn't connect to their server anymore but that's almost expected.

I use AmIRC with bitlbee, try searching on google how to set up a program irc whit bitlbee

what do you mean with hard? a 400MHz PowerPC is pretty slow and the loading times can be longer.

the problem is you have it because I use bitlbee and am so glad, I just wanted to clarify, but you have a powerful computer to access facebook!!

As usual when there is useful software that needs to be updated to a more secure protocol/new features, there jumps out silly people who blabber about they can do the same with other services/software/computers.

So stay in topic or shut up...

Wanna be of some help? Ask for an updated version of the software or hire a bounty, or learn how to programming.

I would say it is active until it is cancelled or fulfilled. The taker never delivered a version or a progress so it makes sense to take it from him and assign it to someone new if we can find someone.
