Hello! I also have Epson Perfection 1240U and it works great here.
    I use MorphOS 1.4.5 with Poseidon 2.2 (14.12.03) and EpsonUSB.device 68k from my fxScan 4.06
Have you properly configured rawwrap.class in Poseidon prefs?
Mac mini G4@1,5GHz silent upgrade + Xerox Phaser 3140 + EPSON Perfection 1240U
    Commodore C64C + 2 x 1541II + Datasette + SD-Box

I miss draggable screens... and do you? I know I'm in a minority unfortunately.

    thx for testing,

log is quite strange, getting params from scanner works but scanning not, maybe scanner wants more time to warm up the lamp

Could You test with this exec:
    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/tmp/SCANdal
    and
    copy this http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/tmp/epson.conf file to
    S: ?

The config file was already in my s:
    Both devices are working now!

    new version of UMax driver

    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/UMax.device

    NEWS:
    - contrast support (it doesn't work with my scanner but may work with another)
    - config file support (umax.conf)

if Your scanner hangs during scanning just put this
    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/umax.conf
file to S: directory (it has option scan-lines changed from 40 to 10)

    other options are described here:
    http://www.rauch-domain.de/sane-umax/sane-umax-config-doc.html

    only "option" lines are parsed

ps. i finally bought USB scanner which is supported by 68k betascan (HP 6300C) so i can start writing proper USB support for morphos betascan. in the meantime i should finish morphos Mustek driver (yet another backend with fork() :/ )

    Hi Zukow!
I have the possibility to purchase a couple of Epson scanner for a very few money.
Question: models are Perfection 640U and Perfection 1260, but I didn't find them
    on the SANE-backends list.
1260 is very similar to 1240 (present in that list)... So I would try...
    Am I wrong?!?
    Anyway, very good work!!! Thanks!

640U is supported by EpsonUSB.device (it's written in readme in thylacine archive) so should work :), epson 1260 is handled by different backend (Plustek ) and it doesn't work with EpsonUSB.device

    @Jambalah

yes, 1260 doesn't work with current drivers.

    @all

I still have problem with sitting and walking but i finally make a stable release of Umax driver. I have 8 scanners and my Umax Astra 1200S is the fastest so If You have scsi card look for this hardware :)

    http://aminet.net/driver/other/umax_morphos.lha

ps. I am still working on usb api for other backends

    sane-plustek

Any chance of adding it to MUIScan ?

    @Kronos

    Roadmap:

    DRIVERS:
    - release stable version of EpsonUSB.device

    SCANdal:
    - autocrop (done)
    - add TIFF saver in SCANdal (done)
    - add PDF saver in SCANdal
    - saving projects in SCANdal
    - add autoincrement names img_01 img_02 ....
    - release SCANdal 1.3

    DRIVERS:
    - finish proper USB api
    - release/test EpsonUSB.device which uses new usb API
    - release backend for gt68xx
    - release other backends which don't use fork() pipe()
    - start rewriting bad backend which uses fork() or make own (simple) implementation for pipe() fork() etc

AFAIK plustek backend doesn't use fork() so it should be easy to make it after having proper usb api

i've released EpsonUSB.device on Aminet, it is based on newer backend (2.36) than 68k version. Still requires usbraw.device but i'm working on this.

Zukow : do you plan to add all drivers in the future SCANdal archive ? It seems to be simplier to have a all-in-one archive than one main archove with lots of drivers archives to donwload.

Hy, good job Zukow, I have a perfection 1650 scandal and the new epsonusb.device works good.

I think you have to improve the interface, add a automatic scanner detection, add a preview button...

    Thanks again for your job.

    taaaaaadaddddddaaaa:

i finished (almost) new usb api for betascan so i could compile
    NEW driver:

    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/gt68xx.device

    list of supported scanners:
    http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html#S-GT68XX

    info:
gt68xx backend require firmware file from windows drivers
You can download it from this site:
    http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/gt68xx-backend/

after download make s:gt68xx directory and copy firmware file into it

!!!! You have to unbind Your scanner in poseidon prefs (if it's binnded to usbwrap.class). New usb api communicates with scanner directly without using usbraw.device/usbwrap.class.

Ok, in SCANdal choose gt68xx.device in Device -> Scanner Driver

and You have to (it's bug, will be fixed) choose some of existing
    Device->Device (like ahi.device for example)

There is some problem with Mode in Scanner Prefs in SCANdal but this driver
    works (tested with Plustek S24)
