OK. since no one else has said anything, and I've waited long enough. maybe it's just my setup, but since the 2.2 upgrade in my efika, my usb drops have increased, (as it was in 2.0), latest ver gmplayer video/audio is out of sync when playing avi, and I never did get the 2d gfx cmd to work as directed. On my system, 2.1 was more tolerable than the upgrade. Just need to have a less problematic system till either that is addressed or a new release. I'll re-install 2.1 on another partition. crazy thing is though, usb drives mount much better under 2.2 without issues...I'll miss that!

Depending on your gfx card, it might make sense to disable 3d layers. It's rather straightforward to do... Just add "2d" to your boot options in OpenFirmware. It's hard to do it wrong, really. :)

About mplayer not being sync, well, don't be surprised if you ask too much for an efika. If it's too slow, just enable framedrop, then it will stay in sync (by skipping frames).

wonder if anyone has gotten the efika to read music cd's? I get upon opening the mplayer "volume audio cd_12c456 has a read/write error
retry or cancel, both options end with nothing happening. in short it's lock up. opening the mounted cd icon is also an issue because it opens the window, but list the same error options? this isn't the case with dvd's or data cd's, just music

Your usb drops aren't really caused by software, so there is nothing for us to address for 2.3. As far as we know this is an electrical issue which you can address yourself - by giving the Efika a better power supply/swapping the gfx card with one that draws less power.

huuummm......ok, if you say so. for the record radeon 9250 128meg and recommended pico psu which came with the efika sys. issues do occur more under 3dlayers vs. 2ddlayers though.

when i installed assuming i did it correctly,
got a cannot perform play audio command
when i double clicked cd-da mounted icon

Have you tried to use the CD-Player by Amigazeux? It's able to play CDDA on your soundcard. And if you want to rip CDDAs, you could try Ripper

cd player accessed and plays but no sound, being a usb drive,

Is "Project --> Settings --> Digital Streaming" activated? That's needed for transfering CDDA-data, and it should work for USB, too.

now it's hanging idle with hour glass icon. pulls up length and tracks just doesn't play

It's strange... Right now CDVDFS playing "Symphonic Shades" CDDA from 1st song.
Pegasos II, cdrom-handler 1.4 (16-jun-2008), original MorphOS CD0 device also active (not killed).

1. Check for CDROM and MOBO connection.
2. Check for unit number in your settings for MPlayer and for CDVD0

it's set to usbscsi.device=0
unless someone else got their usb drive to play, it may be me and my efika again
reviewing steps again...

I try now with my Morphos 2.6 setup, almost all cds especially cd-r discs get this read/write error.. Its still a issue ? I use alot of audio cds, and really need this feature.. I use an external usb cdrom connected to ny Mac Mini. It reads all data cd/dvds i have tried.. But not Audio cds... Anyone else can try ?

I was afraid this was still an issue after 4 releases since original post, which is one of the reasons I haven't upgraded yet. It was still an issue under 2.5 That uncheck scsi in poseidon doesn't help for the usb dvd drives. The inserted blank cd/dvd in a usb drive hangs the system. So you can't copy from internal ide to usb drive.

Argh, I hope someone else jumps into this topic as its really important.. If not I will try this other cdfile system, mountfiles always were tricky so lets see if I get it going :)

Is there yet a fix for this issue? I forgot and just tried again to copy a cd, and it happened again!
rebooted to type this up...really annoying!!
