    The 'up' gadget (ie go up one directory level) does not seem to register as an action, in the sense that the 'back' button does not then take one back to the previous directory.

    That is badly explained. Please humour me by trying the following example:

    Double-click the system drive icon from ambient.
    By double-clicking the drawer icons, navigate to sys:morphos/ and then further to sys:morphos/prefs/ and then further to sys:morphos/prefs/Gfx
    Press the 'up' gadget three times to navigate to sys:
    The 'back' gadget will now take you back to sys:morphos/prefs/.

    The history list used by the 'back' gadget does not appear to have registered any navigation actions done by the 'up' gadget, and simply steps back the last action done by double-clicking.

    I'll happily submit a bug report, but perhaps could use some help with describing the issue in a more succint and suitable way.
