tokai, the author of netlamps sbar.module wants to remove the option of turning off the arrows besides the netlamps.
he will only keep the option if he will get his primate.gif displayed in his signature here on morphzone.

if you want the option to turn off arrows of netlamps tweet tokai at twitter (twitter.com/binaryriot) or write to the mz staff to bring back the primate:)

mz staff: why cant the signature contain images anymore?

edit: this post has officaly nothing to do with tokai and was posted by my own:)

First of all, every MorphZone user is free to use a personalized avatar that may contain as many primates as you can fit in the maximum allowed resolution.

You want to have a picture of primates to be part of all of your comments? Good news: You can.

If you would like to know why no images are allowed in the footer of comments, on the other hand, here is a random example picked via a quick web search:

    http://www.gamesforum.com/t24084-gamesforum-member-and-forum-awards-09.html

Scroll down and compare the sizes of the images in comment footers to the actual text comments. Frankly, that is neither user-friendly, i.e. it makes the site less easy to read, nor particularly pretty.

While there is a special avatar module that enforces specific size restrictions, the forum software that is used for MorphZone does not actually allow to limit the sizes of images that are part of comment signatures. It just does not work.

So, in order to prevent the misuse of images in signatures as can be seen at the link provided above, there is only one reasonable option in terms of available time and resources. That option is to block images in signatures.

I would have picked much less mild words for that ill habit of having huge images in signatures. Some people are desperate for getting attention, and everyone else has to suffer that.

    @ FrankBrana

Have you read the entire discussion?

As previously explained, we have currently no way to block specific image sizes except for avatars. Likewise, there is no way to only allow a particular user to put a (small or otherwise) picture in his signature but nobody else. Period.

    @Asiegel

I did, and i understand all the situation with the signature?s bitmaps size, but, after all, here at MZ, i didnt
see, ever, those big and ugly use signatures that can be seen in other forums.

BTW, there are big ascii based sigantures, which takes more screen space than the cute tokais monkeys, and no body seems to care at all.

We will care when it starts to bother users or us mods. In this case it was presented as a joke and MZ staff do have sense of humour too, you know ;-)

    tokai hates options.

He removed all superfluous options in Netlamps.sbar for the sanity sake of everyone.
