pampers: thank you for this! however it didnt work for me (surprise:). it halted during boot, after "mac os starting" text. no response from gui, i couldnt close emulation window, cpu usage up to 100%. i tried to close its task with task manager and when i closed basilisk ethernet thread (or something like that) the boot continued, a few extensions were loaded then halt/freeze again. i tried with both basilisk 0.9 and 1.2. i've set the ethernet device to via_rhipci.device unit 0 in the gui. using an 1mb mac.rom but tried yours from the lha as well.
    any advice on this?:)
    thx again!

    @pampers

Just trying to set up Basilisk. I still need your help.

I couldn't find BasiliskII v. 0.9. On Aminet there's only m68k version which doesn't launch on MorphOS. On Basilisk homepage, there's source for Basilisk v. 0.9 but when I try to build it by typing make (as instructed), there's an error reported - missing /bin/sh (so I don't think it's really ready for Amiga-like builds - unless I still need to install some more dev tools).

I tried to launch version 1.2 using System 8 (image.iso, boot from cd), with both roms set up as system 8. Then I get question mark on a diskette icon.

    That's where I ended up.

    Hi DiskDoctor
If you want to use the system 8 image.iso you must add it as a mac volume.

I'm trying to use the said iso image. I define it as a cd volume and check 'launch from cd'. That's what I described.

I suppose you should drop a few lines (a pdf that is) about Basilisk II setup as jacadcaps did with dualboot mini :-)

Note that I'm using BasiliskII 1.2 binary since I couldn't find 0.9 enywhere (again, as I wrote).

I made it! My mistake - I was using the wrong image file.

If there's a Basilisk II fanclub, count me in! :-)

But I find some slight troubles - default keyboard seems to be Greek. I'll manage to deal with it anyway.

So you made it only switching image file?
And you didn't add it as a Mac Volume? instead you define it as a cd volume and check 'launch from cd'?
    just curious.

No, I chose the mac volume plus I used the proper image file. I just got mess in my Temp directory - I confised the said image for another.

    np:)

i've found out the problem i guess: on the communication tab i have to set the paralell and serial devices by hand every time and also set "unit" to 0.
in env:basilisk.prefs there are the required settings yet when i load basilisk this tab is half empty:

morphos2:devs/ instead of morphos2:devs/serial.device, also all three 0's are missing. if i start basilisk this way it wont boot but halt during boot (exit via taskmanager/kill basilisk ethernet).
if i re-enter these values by hand again emulation will start and your img boots into mac os desktop.
in the prefs the communication ports are stored like this:

    seriala morphos2:devs/serial.device/0

i've tried to rewrite them like "serial.device/0" w/o the path but same effect.

my other problem is inside mac os 8: internet not working. ok, lets run some control panel. i've found ppp, but it refuses to run "opentransport is not running". i've checked the extensions and its there. but tcp/ip control panel is missing. so internet is not working therefore i cant browse via iexplore for mac! disaster!!:)

ok then, but what about those comm ports?:)
do you have to set them up at every run or do you just start after basilisk is loaded?

    (at)pampers, saddam

Sorry, guys, just been busy these days on setting up AROS on my HP 530 :-)

I was lucky because Icaros Desktop 1.1 didn't launch and ID 1.2 from December... works just fine :-) Still, gotta work on a music driver.

But this is really off topic, that was just an excuse.

My point is that even if this is impossible to set up internet on Basilisk II, I wouldn't cry. I think what is most important is disk access (r/w morphos files or a pendrive) plus System 8 apps. I really count on those apps right now. Gotta check em out anytime soon.

Now I face the problem of runing a sit designed for 7.1-8.5 System.

I managed to unstuff it but the said file type seems unknown to the system. Strange since I just downloaded the app from the vendor's site.

And btw, I switched my Basilisk II discussion into this forum:

    http://www.emaculation.com/forum/

Do you know any other Basilisk furums?

What problem? Network / comm ports? Didn't try yet. Now I have a problem in installing an archive which is desighend to work for OS 7.1-8.5. No use yet. I right now communicate with a mod on the porum I posted. Maybe if your problem is not that much bound with MorphOS, you can go there and ask. Basilisk II is hosted on many operating systems so other people might help for sure.
