    I am using Mplayer to record streams from an "mms" url.
    I wish to save the video in a partition Work: How?
    In the preferences to Mplayer a fill in box (what's the right term?) requests the path to "Dump Stream" I wish the mms url address to identitify the file in Work: This in aGUI.

    If not what would be the command line syntax? :-?
    - Playing a stream:
    mplayer <stream url> -cachenetwork -cache 2048 -quiet -vo cgx_overlay::PLANAR -autosync 30
    Recording a stream and saving it as the <stream url>?

    If you want to use the GUI to record, just select the fullpath you want to record to in that "dump stream" string. Then, in pulldown menu->control, check "Record Stream", and then play your stream normally. You can even enable/disable record at runtime to skip unwanted parts, as long as you started recording before playing the stream.

    From command line, you could do it too (with dumpstream & co), but you couldn't watch it at the same time.

    Looking for the correct syntax.3.4.1.?Saving streamed content:::::

    Once you succeed in making MPlayer play your favorite internet stream, you can use the option -dumpstream to save the stream into a file. For example:

    mplayer http://217.71.208.37:8006 -dumpstream -dumpfile stream.asf
    will save the content streamed from http://217.71.208.37:8006 into stream.asf. This works with all protocols supported by MPlayer, like MMS, RTSP, and so forth.

    For example mplayer mms://66.209.93.118/Replays2010/201001141504TAM7.wmv?CUST=TampaBay&TICKET=09a51fa3be90b47dfbd79c0e4c303ff4%7C1263502002%7C300%7C%2A%7CTampaBay%7C1000%7C0%7C0 -dumpstream -dumpfile Work:mms//66.209.93.118/Replays2010/201001141504TAM7.wmv?CUST=TampaBay&TICKET=09a51fa3be90b47dfbd79c0e4c303ff4%7C1263502002%7C300%7C%2A%7CTampaBay%7C1000%7C0%7C0.asf

    @Fab,

    Thank-you for your reply. The eventual goal (hopefully) is to batch download many video files (not porn: too many children already) using arexx..the mms list of files can be parsed and passed to the command line..It was done before using Aweb and a large list of text files
