    Hi all!
Can someone help me? I have a strange error when I try to open MUI settings (Ambient or Global).
It seems that there is a strange calling to a LIBS:mui/Settings.mui, plus errors in MUILayoutObject.
This is the debug log after the Global MUI Settings selection:

Typical reason for such problem is installing some broken MUI custom class. Move away all classes from SYS:Classes/MUI and make sure that MOSSYS:Classes/MUI contains only classes delivered with the system.

I have MOSSYS:Classes/MUI with classes I found and I added thirdy parts only in SYS:Classes/MUI. I tried to erase all mui classes there but the result is the same. Everything but "About MUI..." freezes. The sbar gadgets too...

It could be a corrupt mui prefs

    Try this:

backup and remove everything from sys:prefs/env-archive/mui/

copy Global.prefs from the same path in your MorphOS install-cd to your hd, reboot and test

    @ Jambalah

ok, I seemed to have the same problem as you, after having copied the skins from the ThreeSkins.lha archive to MOS:Prefs/Skins...

Everything seems to work fine BUT it's just not possible to open the MUI prefs, the system crashes...
    https://morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=6661&forum=9

I think I tried everything, copied the orig. Global.prefs from MorphOS 2.4, copied the Global.prefs from another Pegasos where everything works fine, etc. just nothing worked. Then I ereased the 3 skin drawers which are: MossieSkinBlack and ...Blue and ...Grey and after a reset everything worked again for me. Hmmm... strange, I didn't have yet time enough to check why... that's why I didn't answer to the above thread...

Please try the same as me and give us some feed-back because if this happens to you also, then something gets worng somewhere....

    Regards

    Christoph

Thanks Christoph! And excuse me... It seems I'm the cause of this problem... My skins, I mean.. or the MUI prefs for those.
I tried and this happens even to me. So there's something wrong. I'm checking and I'll let you know soon.

Well, I noticed that a long log error happens when I use the blue version of "MossieSkin", starting with a "exception 3 <Illegal data Acces at 0ffc0cc6 DSISR 42000000, Store to a not existing Page>".
    Maybe I missed something..
I'm going to send that skin to Jacadcaps and searching for something I forgot.
By the way, I reinstalled the skins and everything work now.

Using the skin I don't really get any hits with the standard MUI prefs items (Info->Keyboard). However when testing I found some old mccs that hit when their objects are being created, these are:

    TransferAnim.mcc 1.0,
    TWFMultiLed 12.4
    Filelist.mcc 19.1

Removing these removed any hits I got in MUI Preferences.

I did however get a failed layout error and already investigated the spot where it happens. We will fix this for 2.5.

Well... it might still be something else. Are you sure you even have these? Try to 'version twfmultiled.mcc' in shell to see if you have any of the said classes.

Hi rms! And thanks!! I'm glad you like =)
The strange thing is that after I adjusted MUI settings I tried to save it with another name (I wanted to use "simplyblacky.prefs"...) and the window error appeared. After that I wasn't able to open MUI settings anymore.
Then I erased it (MUI saved my new prefs) and all went ok again... Maybe there's something in my MUI prefs. I mean: MUI probabily calls some graphic part of that setting moved or erased (I'll check for that), don't think some strange class (I checked when jacadcaps suggested and I found nothing), since I use to put thirdy parts classes in SYS:Classes/MUI avoiding to touch the MOSSYS:Classes/MUI.
    I'll investigate...

Thanks to Yomgui, I understood the problem:
the path of window and requester backgrounds is "MorphOS:". But this is the name of my hd and should be different
for other people. So you have to chenge that name with "SYS:" and all should become normal.
Sorry.. I made a big mistake....
Download here the right .prefs file (right mouse button & download file)

    @ Jambalah

Thanks for feed-back, though here it still doesn't work! Whatever prefs file I have in System:Prefs/Presets/MUI yours or the modified one from Papiosaur, neither one lets me open MUI settings if they are present. I delete the file, make a reset and everything works fine again. Stange, isn't it?

BTW, yes it would be great to have a skin like that for 13 points typeface so that the allover window's sizes stay as small as possible ;-)

    @ RMS:
I just realized a 15 points skin. If you tell me how to do I can send you to test it (I hope buttons don't look ugly..)
For the prefs: I can't understand how this could happen.... Yes, really strange.... :-?
