I burned a dvd with Frying pan 1.3.2 and it contained a dit with a lot of files and a few subdirs on my peg2.
This all worked out well it seems.
I tried to copy the files from the dvd onto the harddisk of an xp machine.
It wouldn,t let me copy these dir's it errored with can't read from source..
    The files copied allright.
When I looked on the pc I did see the only read optoin was enabled does that matter?
I burned the dvd as split iso track maybe that is an issue?
Other option was raw data track maybe that is better?
    Please some advice

    Hi,

I use FP very often and do not experience such a problem! AFAIK the "Split ISO Track" is only for exporting data e. g. if you want to make a copy of a video dvd, you could download the data track (having split ISO track option selected) to the hd and then write/burn the tracks back to a dvd.

Could it be that your files on the hd are already only R?

    Regards

The files and dir's copy nicely from one partition to another partition off the pegasos.
Is there a tool to check or modify all files to set the read wrote flag?
So for the settings off Fpan I should set raw audio/datatrack?
ANd in tracks Iso level 3 is ok?
Rockridge extension joliet set and also Relaxed iso names is set are all these ok?
And how come if there are files somewhere in the dir's which are read only the xp machine won't copy them?
I mean to copy it only has to read the file..right?
Maybe if I pack all the dir's with zip this will work out.
Strange though I have these errors.

I guess its a problem with the name. Typical files causing trouble on Windows are "con" "prt" "par". Those are reserved file names which cannot be read, as they are used internally as device.

Some systems also reject opening drawers were the drawer name ends with a dot.

You will also loose protection bits during copy process.

As you can see copy cd contents to XP isn't a good idea. Coping the stuff from CD to hard drive will cause only the "R" flags gets set, This is because the source drive was protected (CD), too.

After you copied all files to hard drive your can perform

    cd partition:

    or

    cd partition:drawer/

    followed by

    protect #? rwed add all

    in shell.

This of course won?t fix the "s" flags, so some icons may not be double clickable anymore.

I did the protect commando as geit suggested and burned another dvd.
Still same problem on the pc can't read from source.
Going to try with a usb stick to see ig same problem exists on that.
Finally managed to get it onto a usb stick ..takes forever all little files..transfer off 700Kb/s
Same problem exists on the usb stick xp machine won't read from the source..errors.
Is there a tool to check for wrong filenames? On pegasos.
