Yesterday i downloaded one movie, which is playable only with VLC Player.
Moreover, it is played without any error (e.g. messy frames or noise), so video is ok (or at least VLC Player will repair it on-fly).

What's wrong? Are there some codecs playable with VLC Player, but doesn't with MPlayer?

Must be MPlayer's build in anti-crap algorithms

I just downloaded the first 10 Megs, and didn't see anything wrong with mplayer. If there are artefacts later, well, maybe it's just the source being crappy. Then players can handle errors differently.

And how to repair errors? I'm sure that video and audio streams are intact (checked), so problem is probably with "header'n'stuff". And MEncoder doesn't recognise filetype (as same as Ambient).

The whole movie plays fine with MPlayer. Your problem must be elsewhere...

Damn... post is edited already, there's available decent quality (video is very blurry and misty and very pixelised in action scenes) version with english hardsubs, right?

So i'll try to find it anywhere else...

Edit 2: ok, i found out what was wrong. This AVI have some weird header before real AVI header. So to "repair" this movie you must cut out first 64 bytes of full file.

I try to play vcd using new version mplayer, but I don't know, how tio do it...
mplayer vcd://2 -cdrom-device ide.device:2
doesn't work.
Using 0.91 version mplayer and frogger it works, but problem is with blanker :)

VCD isn't enabled in current releases. It has changed quite a bit since 0.91, and since i don't have any VCD at hand, i wouldn't be able to test it. So 0.91 is your friend for these. :)
