I am seriously considering getting a peg as I use to be an amiga owner (the old 3k got sold as I moved from the uk to england and well didn't know if i could get stuff to convert the power). The only thing I really would like is an X11 server, I know there was one for the amiga, as I use texmacs alot which depends heavily on X. Anyone know if there is one for Morph.

And yes I know linux works on the peg, but I have a linux box at home and doubt I would want to run it on the peg as, well, that is what morph is for

    thanks

AFAIK there isn't one that's Morph native. Which one are you using? Is there a demo version on Aminet? I can test it out for you.

Hmm... I guess I'll give it a shot then.

I found this: http://dspach.free.fr/amiga/xami/ . I'll see if I can get it up and running.

Okay, found also AmiWin and GfxBase demo versions, but umm... Not sure if there is a way to buy these anymore.

    Test results:
    - tested on my small lan, using the Sun box and my Pegasos w/MOS14. Essentially I exported the sun's display to my pegasos. :P

XAmi402: freeware, umm, started up fine, but crashed after 2 seconds... and I mean crash and burn (system locked up tight.)

AmiWin222: Shareware (demo). Seemed to work fine, it was limited to 8bit screens, and I couldn't select anything over 800x600 for some reason. However, it worked. I believe the demo is timed to 30 minutes or something and I don't think you can register it anymore. :(

GFXBase-X11: umm... couldn't get it run. Says it's obsolete. There's a date check, I put the clock back temporarily but it didn't work.

AFAIK there's also a X11-Server (+ a lot X11 programs ports) in the GeeksGadget system.

    http://www.ninemoons.com/

After you have installed the MOS SDK (which comes with a basic MOS native geeksgadget environment) you could try to install the x11 packages. It will be awkward, but could run! Maybe someone has the time to test this out. :-)
