Is there a filesize limit? tar keeps crapping out at around the 4GB limit..so I assume this is the case?
I've no idea where I got tar from..maybe it came with MOS?
EDIT: could be SFS I suppose

There is 4GB size limit in MorphOS 1.4.x (it is actually 2GB, SFS stretches specifications).
1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1

Yes.
At MorphOS 1.x (DOS) is the maximum Filesize 4GByte-1
and at SFS (for MorphOS 1.x) also.
Hint: Many old Programm have Limit <2GB and less.
The Filesystem ext2 for MorphOS can >4GB, but >4GB work only at MorphOS >= Version 2.x!
Split bigger Files (from /at another system) or
Wait of MorphOS 2.x.
